I think it's just misinformation on the part of the police officers up and down the ladder.

My Korean coworker actually called the "gu" headquarters first and they said I could do it at any police station. Then we went to the one next door and the dude said no and I could tell he had no idea what he was talking about. Then we ended up having people from the police station down the street come to that one after we set up an appointment (he didn't even have the stuff for fingerprints at his own police station, lol).

You can go to the police station, but just make sure you can see all your prints before you mail it off. You don't want to get it rejected.

this is about the 15th time i've posted this go to the permits and ids office at camp kim next to the uso, between namyeong and samgakji stations and they will do it for you in about ten minutes.

as you look at the uso from the street permits and ids is located in a building to the left YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE SIGNED ON TO BASE TO GET TO THIS OFFICE!!!!!!, walk into the office, tell the guy you need to get fingerprints done, you will then fill out an fbi fingerprint card and they will do them. have them do 2 just in case they mess up.

REPEAT YOU DO NOT NEED TO GET SIGNED ON TO BASE TO GET THIS DONE!!!. Its free and takes less than 10 minutes, only downside is the uso canteen is now closed so getting a cheap meal is now a no go

Does the permits and IDs office have any weekend or evening hours? My wife needs to have her prints done outside of business hours due to her work schedule...

This Camp Kim information is either outdated or wrong. I went there today to try and get fingerprints done. They told me unless I had a military ID they wouldn't and couldn't do it for me. However, if you go to the Yonsan Police Station (exit 1 on Namyeong station) they will do it quickly and well. Took all of 5 minutes. They knew exactly what to do. Just print out a form and bring it and they'll get you sorted right away.

You can get fingerprints taken at any police station in Seoul, but if you don't even try to speak Korean, the officers aren't going to be very willing to help you, especially since most of them speak no English whatsoever.

If you go to a station, just say something like: 비자 때문에 지문을 채취 해주시곘어요? The officers should be more willing to help you then.
