i love teaching! but that doesn't have anything to do with whether or not it's a very professional job... also, i don't know very many "professionals" who go to online discussion boards to pick fights, use outrageous amounts of eye rolling emoticons to prove their points, and to proclaim their own professionalism to a bunch of strangers. you are a very interesting "professional"!
it's an on line annoymous board. you bloody pratt. It has nothing to do with my bloody work, now stop defending your bloody unprofessional actions you fool!!! |

Not to interrupt this charming, drunk-in-a-lousy-bar exchange, but to get back to the topic:
I work in PS, I have a super-nice and understanding main CT, about the most laid-back VP possible [oh, why must he retire in March?! Just 1 more year!] and a principal who doesn't overly energize herself for just about any reason. That said:
My school would NEVER, EVER even consider such a thing outside a [documented] death in the immediate family, a life-threatening injury or POSSIBLY a marriage [I can hear them already, 'can't you wait until January for the honeymoon?' ]
You CAN ask but it will be a major risk. Not only will they almost certainly refuse, they will remember this when it comes to renewals. If you are out of here after this contract, then no problem. But if you want to stick around, you want to be [and be seen to be] a team player and someone who isn't just here for money and vacation. Cutting out for 2 weeks [!] during the middle of the semester, coming right up on exam prep, will NOT contribute to a positive image. Even asking will look VERY bad.
Considering the current scarcity of decent PS jobs, I would be cautious about undermining your position until you are ready to leave for sure. It takes some time to get a good reputation and reputation around here, but very little to wreck it. |

It would behoove you to follow the TOS. You clearly are violating the TOS by engaging in ad-hominem attacks and dodging the swear filter. Before you refer to professionalism, learn how to act with a sense of decorum on this website in a way that demonstrates that you are willing to honor the user agreement (Terms of Service). We don't like repeating ourselves. Keep that in mind.
Thank you.... |
