I'm curious about the pricing of 4G in Korea. I have SK, but might switch for a better deal. |

KT isn't charging any extra for their 4G. I have no idea what SK and LG have for 4G service plans. |

KT's 4G is their WiBro service. KT does NOT have a true 4G service yet, but they are in the process of getting one, according to the news reports I've read.
Right now, 4G is expensive. VERY expensive. |

Nobody asked what type of service the 4G was or I could have told you that.
The wibro network is pretty fast, and being that a data package on the wibro starts at $20 per month (for just a few GB of data), I think it's a good deal. |

Who pissed in your cereal this morning?
If KT's 4G is free, then why does the pricing start at $20 a month? |

It doesn't for KT.
You sign up with the unlimited data plan and you get the wibro 4G free also.
I have no idea what SK and LG are charging for their LTE service. |

That's news to me. I have unlimited Data with KT, never heard a thing about free WiBro. You got any more information about that? |

It's only for 4G phones. Right now the only one KT offers is the EVO 4G+. If you get the actual Wibro, you would have to pay for a data plan. |

And you didn't bother to mention that little bit of information in your initial post? Seems pretty important to be left out.....
4G is FREE (in super fine print "only if you buy the EVO 4G+ phone")
YOu sound like a used electronics salesman. |

I just assumed someone of your intelligence would be able to figure out that free 4G data was only for 4G phones. Next time I'll make sure to point out the obvious. |

check out tworld.co.kr and then click on 요금 at the top for the prices. SK does NOT have unlimited like it does for 3g but the data allowances are very generous like 6-10GB depending on the plan you choose and it isnt all that much more expensive than the 3g plans.
I wouldnt use KT simply as WIBRO is becoming a dated service (and unique to Korea - meaning lack of global compatibility if you take your phone abroad) that has been around for several years - its not TRUE 4G. U+ is a little cheaper than SK and claims to be faster - but you would have to check that claim for yourself.
LTE is the way of the future I hope. This could well be u+'s time to get popular and get over the problem they had with operating with outdated CDMA technology. |
