thats not correct at all, war has been costly but i don't see how trying to free oppressed people under a Dictator who has a history of killing children, torturing men, raping women is someone laughable to you

and in Afghanistan, the Taliban doesn't just hate the US, you should truly have an understanding about how they have oppressed people and have operated for many years on a platform of hate

Haha...

Living in China, it always makes me chuckle when I hear how China is going to take over the world. China can't even run their own country and barely sustains itself. Basic services that people take for granted in 3rd world countries often go on the fritz. There is NO way China will ever be running anything in a significant way in our lifetime.

China cannot sustain and support any war. They would have economic collapse and millions upon millions starving if the economy quit producing and lost even some of their markets, which would be sure to happen in any serious conflict.

All the cheap stuff that China makes could be produced in other 3rd world countries. As Chinese workers start demanding higher salaries (and they are), I look for companies to pick up and move out of China. I think it is far more likely the housing bubble in China will burst, the economy will slow down (can't have 10% growth annually forever), and China will fall back into the 3rd world (which actually life outside of the cities is now) before they become the ruler of the nations.

Fear of China is a manipulative political tool. Period.

I believe this too.
Lived there, seen it. Not in our lifetimes, people.

Wow, replying to my post so out of context.

My point was about not moral issues, it was that the US couldn't afford to go to war with China as a previous poster had suggested. If the Iraq war has ran into trillions of dollars, you think they could afford to invade China?

Anyone..?

i don't think anybody can predict these things. talking about it certainly wont push speculation toward reality. having lived in china for 2 years, i can tell you that education wise, these people have long ways to go before catching up to an average westerner in terms of intelligence and common sense. i'm talking generations, even.
