Hey, I am new in Korea. I am looking for some help with a psychiatrist, acupuncture and tattoo places in Gwangju. It is the Gwangju in the south not north. Any help would be great.

Acupuncture should be easy enough, but for tattoo places you'd probably have to come up to Seoul, as well as for English-speaking counsellors as well.

He wanted a psychiatrist, I believe, not a councellor.

Find a university hopspital, they usually have an ENG speaking shrink or a nurse who speaks Eng that will translate. Some of them actually have foriegn clinics, there are two in Busan that do.

I don't know the difference.

Probably going to Seoul from Gwangju would be easier than going to Busan. I also think there's phone counselling, and I'd be willing to bet there's video phone counselling these days.

The difference is psychiatry is more medical. Psychiatrists prescribe medication and work with people who have mental problems that stem from physical differences.

Counselors are more about the mind - talking about your problems. Not to get into an argument, you can boil it down to psychiatrists handle issues that people cannot handle on their own due to physical problems/imbalances, etc, while counselors are more for dealing with psychological issues, matters of the mind.

Anyway, as TFW said, find a hospital and they'll have a psychiatrist. I was just at the uni hospital near my place, in the cardiology department, and right across the hall was the neurology department with a psychologist. Might have to wait a while for an appointment, but they are pretty common. You can find one in Gwnagju, I'm sure.
