I'm just wondering because my last job at a hagwon, whom I thought I left on good terms with, didn't want to give me a letter of recommendation because she accused me of not retaining students because I was "too boring" (whatever that means) . That's fine I found another school to hire me so now I'm in the process to get my visa. I'm just hoping that my former boss, knowing that I want to go back to Korea, doesn't turn around and falsely blacklist me. Could this be possible. I thought this was only possible for teachers that pulled runners or got fired. I completed my contract so what grounds does she have....it would be her word vs mine.

I don't know about blacklisting, but she can give you a bad reference.

Although a few hagwan associations maintain private blacklists, they are illegal under the labor standards act and there is no universal "teachers blacklist".

As long as you haven't been accused of an actual crime you will be fine.

Any blacklisting network that hogwans might have is not likely to be very extensively used. Given the capricious nature of many Koreans bad references are a major nuisance in Korea. Many organizations like EPIK rely on Korean references heavily, which is a mistake in my opinion. It's not just Koreans though, Americans can be very capricious and unjust in references, but many employers in the USA know this and don't rely heavily on references.
