My first day at the new school didn't go so well and we don't like each other anymore. The recruiter says that he will find me a new job. I will stay with a friend for 2 weeks and if I don't find anything, I will probably go home. This probably means that I will go home as I think that I will need new documents, but the recruiter says that I can transfer everything a second time. Is this true?

No.

If you haven't submitted the FBI check with apostille and/or you haven't supplied a copy of your degree with an apostille (not the original) then you are limited to ONE change of status in 2011.

Without further details I would have to say you gave up a little quick. Perhaps you should give it some more time, is this your first job teaching ESL? When I had my first job in Taiwan I hated my boss with a passion. Over time I learned how to get along and the stuff I hated about her was from the business end of things, not her personally.

I submitted the FBI check with the apostille as well as an apostilled diploma in August, so do I get another chance? I could really use one. The situation was not salvagable. I tried and so did my recruiter.

If they have your documents on file then a transfer MAY be possible.
It will be up to the immigration officer at the time of the application to make the decision.
They are not required to allow a transfer if you have been employed for less than 6 months but they can allow it (case by case basis).
You will need a LOR to transfer.
If you can't get a LOR you will need to cancel your visa (usually a quick trip out of the country handing in your ARC on the way out) then begin the visa process again from scratch.

You lasted one day? Seriously? What the heck happened in one day that the work relationship is unable to be salvaged?? BTW good luck getting a LOR after that.

Not at all. I recently left a job after 2 weeks following a refusal to follow the managers instructions (to teach ten ele classes in one day 'freetalking' with no prep time nor materials) and a shouting match involving swear words after she got angry.

Got an LOR and visa transfer for my new job. In fact my new boss called immi and said there is a new 'one month grace period' for the transfer.

Will be going there today to dot the i's and cross the t's, so if that info turns out to be spurious I will write about it here.

illy I am starting to think that the problem may be you.
Maybe you just have a strong personality? That's putting it rather nicely, or maybe you are just bad with human interaction??
I have NEVER in my work places that I work now and in the past had such a hard time working with others than I had to quit--and especially AFTER 1 DAY! Are you kidding me? 1 day?!
What happened?

You do realise of all the 7 billion ppl on the planet, it is not unusual for a lot of them to have completely differing experiences in life? You automatically accuse the op with no equal assumption of the possibility that the new employer might have been the person responsible?

Yup was correct, transfered my new visa today after my last one was cancelled on the 25th oct and started new job nov 1st.

Of course, the IMMI oficer wasn't aware of the rule and I had to convince him to speak to a superior in order to double check... Same last time too. These guys only know the most outdated rules and it helps to know your stuff when you go there....

Thanks Floating World, you have eased my mind a lot.

As far as what happened, well I'd moved over the weekend. The apartment had no heat or hot water so I barely slept Saturday night. They said it couldn't fix it until Monday. I slept at someone else's house on Sunday, leaving for my last day at my previous job at 5:30 a.m. When I got home Monday night, it was nearly midnight.

I called the school a little before 10 a.m. Tuesday morning asking for directions. I had no idea how to get from the apartment to the school. I ended up being a little bit late, no prep time. I expected some kind of orientation or an opportunity to follow another teacher around and learn the lay of the land, but I was just thrown in there.

I tried to go with the flow and I worked through my lunch hour to prepare for the next class. I wasn't quite finished when it was time for class to begin and that was a little stressful and then someone asked me if I'd done something else that she'd told me to do that morning, and I'm not sure when I would have done it, so I reacted badly to this. Then things escalated, so I really messed up. I should have asked for a day off in between jobs so that I could get settled and get some rest. Instead, I found myself overtired and overwhelmed and it wasn't good.

The owner or whoever she was called the recruiter and two other guys and I told the recruiter my side of things, he tried to smooth it over, and they decided to fire me. He helped me move to a friend's house this morning and he says that the school wants 100.000 Won if they are to give me a release letter. I imagine that I will have to fork it over. It will be cheaper than starting from scratch...if I can find a job. Who will want me now?

Hey. It' 5 yrs in country concurrent as of Jan 2010 and not having left the country for more than 3 months at a time. And only if your degree is aleady apostilled and your last crc was nationwide. Then yes, as long as you get lor, there is 1 month grace period fromt he date your last visa is cancelled.

NOTE - the last TWO times I have been in to immi to extend my visa in this manner the guy behnd the counter has been UTTERLY CLUELESS and I have had to insist they speak to a higher up or to call Seoul immi - lo and behold they come back super surprised that I knew more than they did about their job....

I quit my last job for simmilar reasonsas Illysook. I found once I had some money in the bank (been here long time but wasted a lotof it until last half year) I was surprisingly less willing to put up with being treated like hired help and more willing to set the standards I desire for myself. Of course I do my best to meet the emloyer's standads etc too, but being blamed for things that are due to their ineptitude or having voices raised at me = I walk if there is no apology and the behaviour continues.
