Hahaha, okay. I'm ready for the hate down. Bring it!

So here's the deal. I'm dating a new Korean girl now. She's awesome. Smart, funny, considerate, caring. Just a real blast to be around. We have so much in common. Man, I'm crazy about her. She's got total white boy fever too, lol.

But she did a working holiday kind of thing in Canada for a year. Just got back a few months ago. Thus, she's Canada crazy. She loves it. She had a Canuck bf while she was there. The whole experience was awesome for her. She even carries around a Canada purse and little Canadian flag.

We started dating, and I think one point of attraction we have is that I'm one of these ubber proud Yanks. Hell yeah I'm American, I bleed 50 stars and 13 stripes. It's always a thing we have. She'll start talking about Canada and I'll chime in with "yeah that's awesome, but USA is better" obviously just to joke around and pick at her. She jokingly mentions at times that she hates America. I remind her that everybody does and that's how we like it Cool

But I'm determined to break her Canada-fetish. So far I'm using the "dating an American guy is kind of like a guilty pleasure" angle. We're the bad boys. Everybody is supposed to hate us. You're not supposed to want us. But it feels so good to do what you're not supposed to do Wink

Any tips or advice? How can I get her to chill with this Canada thing?

Tell her that 90% of Canadians live within
100km of the border. So, they might as well be 'Mercans.
and that the UK is the 51st state. Embarassed
There is probably only once city I'd live in up there.
Vancouver is cool. WEST COAST, BABY!!!
Montreal is worth a visit. After that, you can have Canada.

Actually, nationalism is for the birds. Like alcohol...gets you drunk and stupid.

This is the transcript of the ACTUAL radio conversation of a US naval ship with Canadian authorities off the coast of Newfoundland in October 1995.

Radio conversation released by the Chief of Naval Operations 10-10-95.

Canadians: Please divert your course 15 degrees to the South to avoid a collision.

Americans: Recommend you divert your course 15 degrees to the North to avoid a collision.

Canadians: Negative. You will have to divert your course 15 degrees to the South to avoid a collision.

Americans: This is the Captain of a US Navy ship. I say again, divert YOUR course.

Canadians: No. I say again, you divert YOUR course.

Americans: THIS IS THE AIRCRAFT CARRIER USS LINCOLN, THE SECOND LARGEST SHIP IN THE UNITED STATES' ATLANTIC FLEET. WE ARE ACCOMPANIED By THREE DESTROYERS, THREE CRUISERS AND NUMEROUS SUPPORT VESSELS. I DEMAND THAT YOU CHANGE YOUR COURSE 15 DEGREES NORTH, I SAY AGAIN, THAT'S ONE FIVE DEGREES NORTH, OR COUNTERMEASURES WILL BE UNDERTAKEN TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF THIS SHIP.

Canadians: This is a lighthouse. Your call.

I don't get it. You have a tongue-in-cheek USA-Canada rivalry with her, yet you're seeking advice on how to actually stop her from being a fan of Canada? Makes you sound a little insecure.
