So this is my first officetel. very nice and spacious and well built it is too (real wood floors yo..)

But I feel nervous for a few seconds when going to bed on my mattress up in the loft. It SEEMS pretty solid but really there's only the kitchen wall and bathroom wall holding it up and I swear that last night and the night before I heard some squeeks when I tossed and turned in bed getting comfy.

You're meant to sleep up there right? I'm 79 kilos which isn't too heavy...

Anyone ever heard of them collapsing or anything...?

They're safe to sleep in....? What if you had a lady friend also up there and things got 'busy...?'

You can sleep anywhere you like. I find most people put beds downstairs and use the loft for storage / guests.

So are they meant for sleeping in or not?

Did my fair share of sleeping and other, ahem, rigorous activity in an officetel loft, and together we were double your weight. Don't worry about it.

No, I just started this thread because I WOULDN'T rather be doing something else like having a beer and a smoke...

Seriously anyone who has seen an officetel didn't feel nervous about sleeping what essentially is a ceiling? Well I guess a house is the same, now I think about it, but in a house you DON'T think about it as you can't see the room underneath you lol...

Just don't sleep up there drunk. The stairs are the bigger concern. Laughing

Here's something to consider about your loft. In my experience, fumes from car exhaust can come in through your open windows and just sort of sit up there. In my loft in Ilsan, the air didn't circulate at all. I was sick with a serious cough for three months before it occurred to me that the bag smell up there was bad fumes. I moved my bed back downstairs and things got better. So, if you open your windows a lot and live in a busy area, that's something to think about.

I miss having a loft though, so much storage space! And yeah, those stairs can be treacherous whilst inebriated.

I lived in the Doosan We've near Yeoksam Station a couple years ago.

If you stood by the elevators, you could feel the floor moving up and down. Seeing small cracks running down the walls and in the hallways didn't help matters either.

i second that.

anyway, i had a loft in my last place and there was never a problem. i'd have friends over and a couple of us would be hanging around up there and we didn't break the ceiling.

my biggest problem was just that it was freezing in the winter. i had an ondol heating system, so it never really reached up to the loft (crappy insulation). anyway, if u sleep up there in the winter, maybe invest in a portable heater.
