Plus one for the above post!

2 scenarios:

"Man A" is 5,5, a bit overweight, and as dull as dishwater. However he has amazingly, stunning hair, hair that would stop the world in its tracks.Hair for the ages. He could easily be in shampoo commercials or be the next Vidal Sasoon guy.

Man B IS 6,0,in pretty good shape, genuinely fun bloke to be around, gentlemanly and the like. However, he doesn't have enough hair to make a wig for a peanut.

I think most women would choose Mr.Baldy, despite the fact that he's bald as he has many other positive attributes, hair obviously not being one of them.

Chin up and head shining I say!

I've forgotten about more women than radcon has ever gotten Cool

Prove it internet stud. Post a picture of yourself. Then post some pictures of your many conquests.
Saying women don't care about bald guys is like saying men don't care about fat chicks: You may tolerate it on occasion, and a few may prefer it, but given a choice you would rather have the more attractive option.

Of course it is. I think you and I lucked out because we both started shedding it off much earlier and therefore had come to terms with it by the age of 29 and stopped caring.

That said, +1 to lop it all off. I do respect the poorly shaped dome aspect, but barring that, just do it.

Declan kills his own point by bringing in a whole bunch of variables besides the hair on one's head. Yes, a tall, charming guy who is in shape will have better luck with the ladies than a short, fat, stick in the mud. This has little to do with hair.

Kyungpook University Hospital Hair Transplant Center in Daegu has one of the world's leading transplant specialists: Prof. Jung Chul Kim.

Thanks for this info.

I'm tall, dress well, and workout regularly. As many of my other balding brethren know, going bald changes the way you look completely regarding the framing of the face. It's very difficult to come to terms with this deformity no matter what condition the other aspects of your life are. Only people going through hair loss can empathize with one another. I find it hysterical when a non balder tells me to just shave it and forget about it, or it's all about confidence, girls don't care about hair.... bullshitttttt

In addition, I would like to continue working in Korea. As you know, looks are important here for employment. It's unfortunate but that's the way it is. Also it doesn't help when trying to date Korean women, because all of the guys their age have hair. I end up looking like their father instead.

Quick story, I met a women, or shall I say girl, last winter when I had a beanie/snowcap on. We hit it off quite well and set up another date a few days later. I met her without my cap and the look on her face was a look of disgust when she saw me. She had no tact at all. Her first sentence was, "I didn't know you were going bald"... The rest of the date I kept seeing her eyes creep up to my hair.. The chemistry we previously had was gone. We never saw each other again after that. I have never wanted to jump of the 63 building more than after that date.

Some of the info about hair transplants ITT are completely incorrect. This procedure has come a long way from the plugs/doll hair of yesteryear. I have done research out the wazoo, I'm basically an expert. I just can't find much info about the best surgeons in Korea. I know the top surgeons I would go to around the world but the price is something a teacher can not afford.

If any other of you gentlemen are thinking about a hair transplant, take a look at the thaihairclinic.com, the MD is Dr. Pong. He has over 210 before and after photos on his website. The price is very competitive. I will be going there if I can't find a great surgeon in Korea at an affordable price.

I also recommend using the hair restoration network for research about the procedure.

Good luck with your hair goals of 2012![/quote]

I find it hysterical when people don't read carefully enough, myself.

declan74 and I both started balding at a much younger age than you. Hell, my hairline started receding when I was 16 or so. When I first came to Korea at 21 years old, yeah, sure, I thought about getting a transplant done and still couldn't accept what was happening at the time. But hey, now I'm 32 and I stopped caring a long time ago. But whatever...

Did I even mention your name...I was talking about when non balders say things in general, not you or declan74. I'm glad that you have accepted it, I on the other hand, have not and will not.

So you were just ranting generically about it in this thread then? Right...

Anyway, to not derail the thread further, you have your info so good luck with it.

Some women don't want to date bald men but some look beyond baldness.
You want to be accepted as who you are not as how someone thinks you SHOULD look.

I prefer bald guys who have gotten over their baldness. Go to England where lots of men keep it short and they don't have a problem with being bald.

I used to wear a hat when I was 22 because I couldn't deal with my bald spot but I got over it later.

I can understand getting a transplant but I wonder about any side effects and also, it costs a lot of money.

Get a transplant, don't get one, whatever makes you happy is what works.

I have the Phil Collins in his thirties hairline which I refer to as 'my landing strip.'

If I had 5mil to chuck about and could take a month off of work I wouldn't hesitate to have micrografts, same way if my teeth were gnarly and I had a spare 5 mil I wouldn't hesitiate to get cosmetic work done on my teeth.

This fallacy that it is 'better to get over it' is completely subjective and erroneous.

If 5 mil could make someone look 5 yrs younger and more confident / happier - why would you esteem someone that had not had the procedure and just shaved more than the other person?

Surely that would make YOU the shallow person making generalised shallow judgements no?

I was born without hair on the sides of my head and have always been self conscious about it. I've looked into hair transplants and was quoted 4 million. They said they'd redo it if more than 10% didn't "take". Shocked I asked my doctor, who is balding himself, about it and he said wouldn't do it. He said the risks are high and it may not last more than 10 years.

This is a topic I have researched extensively as I am also going bald. Here is my take on it.

Hair transplants are very expensive and don't work for most men. The transplant leaves a massive scar on the back of the head. Most Surgeons are bad at the job and will really butcher you.

The worst part is that Hair Transplant surgery also requires that you take DHT Hormone blocking drugs like Propecia. These drugs are extremely dangerous. Read propeciahelp.com if you want to know more about them.

So what's the other options.

A) Shave it all off and go bald. Some men like this and find it a relief.
B) Wear a toupee. I personally recommend this option and well start wearing one in a few years myself. Modern toupees are very good see this video below.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJgSiwDdcok

As someone who has tried every option, this poster is 100% right.

I've been there done that with shaving my head and also getting a hair transplant. The transplant was a big mistake and he is 100% right about the scar. But wearing a toupee is like having the high school full head of hair back. It's awesome. I recommend toplace.com as a good place for beginners thinking about wearing toupees. There's a wealth of information about hairpiecesin its forum and they sell them and I've bought a couple from them in the past with happy results, but I source my toupees from a factory for much less these days. I spend maybe $20 per month on toupees, glue and so on.

If you have jet black hair (or are okay with dying it black) and it's reasonably thick, it's hard to screw up with a modern toupee. It's not the Sam Donelson rug anymore. I don't want to give advice to guys with non-black hair since it sounds scary to me to try to match it. Maybe I would try a full piece? But regardless, French lace or Swiss lace are the only ways to go. I've always bought French lace since it's more durable and I don't care if people know I wear a piece or not, but if you're nervous about people finding out, maybe a Swiss lace piece would be better.

PM me if you have any questions. I know this is a sensitive issue for some people. But I'm 35 and went from a model in my 20s to a guy nervous about going bald and now I'm 35 and feel like I'm 21 again.

Please don't get a transplant though. Shave your head or get a toupee, but don't get the scar I have on the back of my head and pay thousands of dollars to get it like I did.

I'd like to add that Korea is a great place for foreign men to test drive a hairpiece. As a hairpiece wearer myself, when I ride the subway, I get the impression that South Korea may very well have the #1 largest per capita percentage of wearers by a longshot.

A lot of Korean men certainly do wear them. I didn't notice it in 2006 when I first came. In fact, I never noticed any back then. But now that I have a lot of familiarity with toupees, I can say with authority that a lot of Korean men wear them, but they wear good pieces. I theorize it's why a lot of Korean men comb their hair forward like Justin Bieber, instead of parting it or combing it back like grown men in most countries. The hairline is where you're most likely to get "busted."

The odds of a non-wearer busting a wearer in Korea is pretty slim since toupees are all over the place.

RE: RADCON....If I could post a bic of my shiny bald head on here,I would do it. I would never post pics of my "conquests" as I am a gentleman and that would be uncouth and beneath my standards.

RE:JIMMYJAMES....It saddens me that you see hairloss as a "deformity".I don't feel deformed in the least. It's not a deformity rather a natural progression of your life. You just inherited a bald gene as over 45% of men do. You are special...embrace it Smile You won the genetic lottery! Laughing

....of course, if you can't cope with it,get your plugs and I hope they look great.Just remember that you may have to do it regularly as you lose more hair in the future and you will be on medication to maintain it also.

Best of luck!

The guys at www.slybaldguys.com are there for you also......a great site for people struggling with hair loss or for those of us who have accepted it and moved on to more important parts of life.

How can you wear one of those things? I am sure lots of people know you are wearing one but have never said anything. The fact that you can spot other toupee wearers, says a lot.

Gluing someone else's hair to your head and being worried about it blowing off etc etc.......not for me thanks. How about when you shower, sleep, swim etc?

How wouldyou handle a drunk mate coming up to you and giving you a noogie or when being intimate with a partner? Do you hang it on the lampshade?
