And this was a KOREAN ADULT. So yes, they probably see you on the same level...unable to speak the language properly and therefore unable to complain...I AM NOT CALLING YOU A STREET BEGGAR, BTW just so you know.

Exactly, we (foriegners) are seen on the same level in this country as a sreet beggar.

Noone has said it better in this thread yet.

Why did it take so long for you to get there?

Speaking of banned posters, who did The Floating World used to be on Dave's?

Nobody.

Not really a TOS violation. It was a serious question. I doubt somehow it's the first time you've signed up here.

Really? Why, have you signed up several times? I don't undestand your reasoning, please do be polite enough to explain your groundless accusation (which has no place in this thread and is something a reasonable person would have pm'd a moderator about on most adult forums) and reason for derailing this thread! oh, I know what could be fun, why don't you derail the thread even further by hypothesising who it is exactly that you think I used to be.

Or at least try to get it in before the invevitable thread deletion / locking / multiple banning or whatever.

I wont be replying because this is just too absurd and below me, but please do go ahead!

Jebus. I'm kinda with the opinion of the crowd expressed in the link I provided on this one. A lot of loonie toons abound here! Ta ta.

That statement of yours sue is loud and dramatic. However, its also innacurate and pretty hilarious.

No foreigners are NOT seen the same way as street beggars in Korea. That is also not what Urban was saying, you just missread his post.

Now, YOU may wish to believe you are perceived as a hobbo by Koreans because of our foreigner status. Thats your call.

Personally to me thats just an oversimplification and its kind of entertaining so by all means carry on with this type of posting, its cute and fun.

Just do not confuse these humorous posts of yours with the reality of foreigners in Korea and you will be all good. Laughing

Jeez kiddo, you're the one doing the amusing misreading.

I didn't say (and it really is explicitly obvious) that we are percieved as hobos. I said 'we are seen on the same level....'

Ie - a target for ridicule, someone extremely outside the norm, someone on the fringe, an easy target etc.

Surely you're just trolling me like the others and aren't so dull witted as to not see that.

I agree with watareyougonnawhatshisname, I really am exiting this free for all douche fest. It shames me that they let such childish people in classrooms.

Do you actually believe that?

Do you actually believe that people who work in the corporate/government/collegiate level academic world are perceived that way?

Did it ever occur to you that students just like to mess with their teachers?

Did you seriously NEVER mess with any of your teachers when you were a student?

Same difference really...still hilarious that you would actually think you were seen on the same level as a hobbo.

Now actuallly you were proven wrong earlier...that hobbo is Korean so in your evaluation of KOREAN social perceptions, he ranks far, far above you as a mere wayguk...

Heck they should pay him your salary...why are they even paying you at all my man?

I am not trolling you, I am just having a bit of fun with what I feel is a hilariously ignorant statement you made. No big deal.

I was not those kid's teacher.

I'll write it again because I really do not think you are absorbin it and how serious it really is.

A group of ele aged kids following an adult down the street in daylight with any adults onlookers shouting 'CRAZY FORIEGNER, PUK YOU MAN ETC.'

Did I mess with my teachers?

Oh sure I did.

Man so much so (I regret it now I see what a pig I was tbh) and worse than anything I've witnessed in Korea. I sometimes half jokingly believe that I am reaping karma everytime I have difficulties in the classroom ha ha.

I once called a science teacher a 'knobend.' Was suspended for a full day and my old man made me walk the streets for 6 hours during that suspension day delivering his business flyers through people's doors.

But, were I caught following a teacher down a street in public shouting abuse at them and calling them a crazy foriegner - I would have been punished both at school and at home and had it explained that it is not acceptable behaviour to single someone out because of their race and / or nationality, plain and simple.

And I am not saying that kids in the UK haven't followed a Pakistani teacher down the street and hurled race based abuse. I'd bet a pound to peanuts that they have. But if that teacher reported the behaviour, you can bet that disciplinary action would be taken.

Here in SK in the experience of myself and otehrs I know - such behaviour is ignored or downplayed as a non issue.

That imo is something Koreans should take a step towards if they are to keep inviting foriengners to come and live in their communitities and teach their children.

Patrik is really missing the point in that TUM really did inadvertantly hit on something. Korean kids would not follow an average looking well dressed Korean adult man down the street shouting swear words at them UNLESS they were some kind of outsider or easy target based on prejudice.

Anyway this is going round in circles.

well now I know you are making this up!!!!

Kids following you down the street shouting swearwords..lol

If you are going to relate "stories" of woe on your prison sentence in Korea, make them believable man.... Laughing

I do not doubt SOME kids have used the ole "drive by hello" on you and that you heard the words wayguk being tossed about by them as you walk by on your way to the salt mine where you toil....but following you down the street swearing at you?

Wait, were they also throwing rotten produce and stones at you???

Dude I am not making it up. Please stop calling me a liar.

And stop with the extreme polarisation. My life in Korea is not a prison sentence and I like many things about Korea. So stop trying to portray me as a Korea hater just to try and discredit my experiences and opinions.

I like a lot of things about my life here, just not the way kids are given free license in Foriegner's classes and feel they can follow a grown foriegn man down the street asking him if he's crazy and shouting and laughing at him if he tries to ignore them etc.

Sorry if this upsets you on some level to acknowledge that such behavior does exist and it really has happened to me and friends I know.

Ok I get the joke, I keep saying the thread is inanane and I'm leaving it and you keep trying to get me to reply.

Ooooh how fun.
