If a thread goes past five pages on this blessed site, you can be sure that at least three posters will be block quoting like fiends.
Seriously, TUM. Have you ever offered an original thought here? Or have you made it your mission to edify the internet through careful analysis?
I observe the effort you exert in your posts and I yawn. |

I offer plenty of original thought. And at least I address the topic....my contribution tends to consist of more than a snide personal attack. Doesn't require much effort to edify here though...not quite sure what you are on about.

At least it is not a crime to be a foreigner, which makes us better than people with tattoos.
I can understand if the Sauna owners want to keep gangsters out of their place, but going to a sauna with a tattoo is a petty crime? |
No...it was their "intimidating presence" apparently. |
Yes and that intimidating presence was quoted as being due to their tattoos, thus the tattoos were the issue.
Keep up with the reading comp |
My reading comp is just fine. Read more carefully. The poster asked if going to a sauna with a tattoo is a petty crime. To which I responded that the intimidating presence was considered the petty crime not the act of getting a tattoo. Lots of people go to saunas with tattoos. |

Are you a native English speaker tum? Honest question.
The above quote really cannot be interpreted in any other way than that the tatoos themselves were the intimiadting factor and that the tatoos constituded a petty crime. |

Yes I am. I could ask you the same question seeing as you have about four spelling mistakes in that last sentence alone but I don't think we want to go there. Tattoos are NOT a crime in South Korea. There are plenty of NETS here with tattoos and they are just fine. There are also quite a few tattoo parlors here all legal and above-board.
Once again it was the intimating presence which was considered to be the crime. Tattoos are LEGAL HERE.

| But what is "it"? The tattoos, or their presence? |

If I commit a crime DUE to drinking a lot of alcohol is the alcohol responsible or am I?
Yes their presence was intimidating due to the tattoos. But it was the presence that was the crime not the tattoos. If you are a licensed doctor it is quite legal to perform one for example.

Again it is not illegal to have a tattoo...it's only illegal to PERFORM one if you are not a licensed doctor.

But was the intimidation the petty crime, or the tattoos themselves. The whole sentence is written so as to leave the possibility for confusion. |

This is all nitpicking. I am not suggesting that all tattoos are illegal. From the articles it says they were fined because of their tattoos since the tattoos lead to an intimidating presence. Instead of arguing about the details in that sentence, try to actually focus on the content. Don't you think it would have been a better solution to not allow them to enter or ask them to leave than to actually fine them? Unless there is something they are not reporting in the story (very likely), I find it quite absurd.
I don't know exactly what a petty crime is. Will it be on your criminal record? |

Sorry TUM, obviously I woke up on the wrong side of the yo today.
As far as tattoes go, I have seen plenty in the saunas here. Either I frequent the gangster jimjjilbangs, or gangsters are more likely to visit them than the average Korean person because a good percentage of my fellow bathers are inked. |

The saunas are a good place for the mafia to talk as it's hard to hide a wire unless you stick it up your arse! |
