Give me good ol Rap and bootyliciousness any day.

Haha what a joke.. you quite obviously know nothing about British clubs. No Euro Techno in sight im afraid, Drum and Bass & Dubstep yes and are both British inventions I might add. Also Hip Hop clubs in England play better Hip Hop than in the States, less Cheesy and less commericial.. I have seen many great hip hop acts in England including People Under The Stairs who I might add said that Britain is keeping good Hip Hop alive while the US is destroying it.

"I find this a quaint, cute comment. Like Koreans following the lives of their past-glory stars overseas," said nukeday. "Was this rumor featured in national newspapers?"

And I find this a patronizing, condescending comment. With regard to Gretzky, I don't give a fig where he lives. It's you Americans who brought him up, and I just responded. Out of curiosity, I used Google to see if he owned a house in Canada, and that is where I saw the rumour.

Besides, are you implying that national newspapers in America do not circulate rumours about celebrities?

On the subject of American celebrities, a lot of famous Americans have residences outside of America. Does that mean they have no love of America? There are also plenty of famous Americans who criticize American policy.

I have no problem with your average American, as I already said. Just quit saying ridiculous things about Canada and Canadians. We don't go around thinking "Oh, I have to buy a house close to the border so I can be near the great U.S.A." We don't necessarily dislike our country just because we live abroad, famous or not. We don't (all) club seals, and we don't liive in bloody igloos.

Now how did I let myself get sucked into this slugfest?

Hillarious. Cream, MOS and most decent clubs in London are world class (and often set the trends for the rest of the world) as is the music on offfer which is certainly in no way dominated by or limited to techno. And I'm not even a fan of the music or the scene (have friends in the biz, so I get on guest lists for free and can bring a date to a vip table Wink

I'd prefer to live in the States though. I liked Oregon. Amazing diversity of scenery, lovely climate, more affordable (this was almost ten yrs ago,) friendly people, awesome diversity in the cities (Urban Portland, hippy Jacsonville, artsy, foodie Ashland etc) and yeah, there is just an optimism there.

And if you want to talk clubs, although in a technical muscial sense I'd rate the clubs in London WAY higher than the ones I went to in the us - the ones in the us were more fun and less poseury.

An acquaintence I met from the bronx was in London playing sets at trendy bars (guitar / rap sort of fusion with crowd interaction etc) and the like and he was always '____ man, the bars here are amazing, the city is fantastic but all the people I play to want to do is stand around looking cool and indifferent holding an expensive beer and they don't even dance or get involved with my act.'

The clubs I went to in the US had far more people standing around trying to be cool and not dancing, and from what i have seen people in British clubs go mental. Just go to FABRIC in London for a prime example.

Clubs in London are out of control. Met people who have flown from all over the world just to go to Fabric. Think post-Giuliani nowhere can compare in terms of diversity and quality.

Still London is a rich mans heaven and a poor mans hell.

They all look like hell on earth. Imagine the queues for the bar and the bogs.

Oh yeah, you're right. I'd never go to a huge big place like that though, it is my idea of hell on earth, all those crowds and people, yuk.

The clubs I was going to were much smaller and more electronica and soft electro, much more exclusive kinds of places compared to Fabric, cream, mos etc and I say that without meaning to sound like a tosser, just that they are smaller scenes, obviously. I'd still rather go to a dingy rock / goth pub ha ha.

The best club is one where I can meet a pretty girl who will have sex with me. All the rest (drinks, crowd size, music) is secondary.
