Right right- it has been said correctly - you can very safely leave anything - cash, electronics, jewels whatever - at the entry guard post - it is always on camera - and there is no way the Korean guard there would even consider tampering with your things- that is probably one of the more difficult police jobs for a Korean to get.
However, I will take this time to enlighten you on your misconception of the embassy security. As you know there are supa secrete Bourne Identity supa undercover sleeper spies pre-positioned all over the world to take out threats with a mere activation text and a very simple map that even the most beaten and repeatedly drown individual can read. Some of these ninjas are annually summoned to US Embassies for Marine Corps Balls, and - in the case of korea- moral boosting american pizza. The reason I know this is from a friend of a friend MSG - who also would share funny antidotes about his time in the CIA when Hillary would hurl ceramics at Bill and they would be duty bound to knock and ask if, "Is everything ok, Mr. President?"
Anyhow, the reason you- a civilian- can not bring in your cell to the US Embassy is NOT because we are worried about you taking pictures or calling in positions of guards or times to strike. The answer is much simpler- that tiny vias processing room is loud and aggravating enough with baby cries, and pushy poor English pleas for assistance. A bunch of yappy cell callers is just one more nail to cause a stressed clerk to quit. You are on camera the entire time you even get close to the embassy and 100 percent of the time you are in there... yes do not use the bathroom- noone is worried about you taking photos or somehow sneaking past a US MARINE MSG Embassy CQB Pro. Trust me on this I kicked it with many a MSG Marine- a lot of them came back staff NCOs after doing embassy duty. You would be better off running around with a 'I hate kim chi." placard at a Korean Kim Chi Festival then thinking you could mess about a US Embassy with electronics and not get taken down hard full contact to the ground. |

| You have a better chance of taking your cellphone into any base in Afghanistan which is surrounded by terorists waiting to blow themselves up than taking one into the embassy in Koreastan. As a matter of fact, they dont even use metal detectors either! |
