Some people posting left Korea years ago. Korea changes. How many years living out of the country do you still think you know what's going on? I'd say maybe 2 years.
The ones that bother me most are the apologists that don't live in Korea! |

How do you know that they don't have friends here to update them or that they don't read ESL forums to keep informed?
What about the whiners who don't live here? Fair enough if you hated it...just move on. But they are more likely not to know what is going on...would you bother if you didn't live here, had no plans to come back, and hated it?
"apologists" on the other hand even if they don't live here are more likely to be interested and keep updated. Because they enjoyed living here. Human nature dictates that we are more interested and invested in things we enjoy.

The ones that get me are the "Korea will never change." people that have been here less than ten years.

I keep it neutral by hating everyone!
Seriously, I've no problems with ex-ex-pats ( ) contributing here....as long as they aren't hiding their location.... |

It's going on 5 years since I've left, so I guess the OP is me, haha. I really don't know why I come on here. I have no other connection to Korea anymore,I've lost contact with my remaining friends and ex co-workers.I don't have an emotional interest in Korea (anymore), I don't even expect to return for a visit, at least not for a very long time. Dave's is my last tenuous connection to Korea, and a short but defining time in my life. Maybe that's why I come on here. |

I left the country more than 10 years ago. I can read newspapers and news reports on Korea. I still have a couple friends there, whom I talk to. Every now and then I meet someone who has been recently and we talk about Korea. Sometimes I even talk to real Koreans!
So, there are many ways for me to know "what's going on" even though I don't live there. |

Many of the "Korea rules; the West sucks" crowd now living in the West (people like PatrickGHBusan) (hypocrites), are recruiters benefiting from sending people to Korea. So of course they want to tell everyone how horrible the United States is, and how great Korea is in comparison. That is good business sense. ($_$) |

it's not so much the people who have left yet still post that grind me, it's the people who have yet to arrive/will never arrive yet still feel qualified to pontificate on all.
Although I am just thinking about one person in particular. |

I do enjoy the "well, if they agree with my extreme views then obviously they are educated and have relevant points of view because there are numerous ways for them to stay up to date on the situation here. But if I disagree with them then they are just whiners who have absolutely no way of keeping up to date on the situation here!" line of thought. |
