My PC is on about to die, and I think I'm going to build a new one. Where is the best place to buy/order components? Should I use gmarket/auction? Should I go to Yongson or some of the other electronics markets? Is there somewhere better?

Yongsan is probably gonna be your best bet

Are you saying this from experience or just guessing? So far it seems to me that auction/gmarket are slightly cheaper than Yongon, but maybe I don't know the right area of Yongson for the best parts etc.

I used danawa.co.kr to compare vendor prices and locate the best deals online. Then I tried to consolidate vendors or shipping costs would suck.

Ended up making a decent rig for a decent price two weeks ago. All parts purchased online.

I used to go to the differents stalls in Yongsan and basically see if they would undercut each others prices, in most cases they won't but you will find some that want the sale.

I've never used Gmarket or anything online here in Korea so I don't know how you would fare with that.

In my perspective, for new items you must look at the internet for price comparison.

I have several times go to Yongsan, buying laptop or accompanying friends to buy, but still internet price is better. Last saturday, I went to Yongsan and found the lowest price is when the shop using the internet price, then the shop buying from the internet, and we were waiting till the laptop delivered to the shop, and we are charged to the tax for using the credit card. They offer us 10% tax for using Credit card, but we negotiate to 4.5%.

But if you want to buy used part, I would better to suggest you to go to Yongsan, however you still need to check the usual price on the used market.

Yongsan is better than other tech areas like gangbyeon or other tech area in South Korea. Even the vendors won't give you the price unless you tell them where you got the price quote from. They'll usually check the danawa price before selling you the item. They have checked it on danawa whenever I went to buy new components. Try to go to other vendors also. Certain vendors won't post it on danawa but sell it bit cheaper compared to others. I've found few deals that way too. It's a pain to look through most vendors but if you want to save few bucks here and there, it'll be worth it in the end. I've saved 100k walking around from vendor to vendor on my last rig.
