I've been working in Korea for over a year. I was laid off at my first school because they had to make cutbacks, and now I'm at a new school.

My new school is asking that I provide a new notarized copy of my university degree and a new criminal background check for visa purposes.

I have NO idea how I'm supposed to get a new notarized copy of my degree and CBC since I'm not home in Canada. Can I even do that since I'm here in Korea? Don't I need to be there to provide my signature etc? I'm sure there must be a way but I don't know how. I didn't go back home after getting laid off, I just transferred schools immediately.

Help!?

There is a "sticky" about this subject in the top section of this very page.
There are also numerous threads about it.
It might take a while to sift through the info, but the info is there Smile
I'd give you the information, but I'm not Canadian.
Good Luck!

Look on your university's website and e-mail the registrar's office. Then have it sent to family members to forward to your state's authentications office. It's easy.

If you transferred and your ARC was changed to add the new/change of employer then you do not need it for your visa (unless they are trying to extend you and even then you may not need it - go to immigration and verify since you are not American.)

IF your documents were k-consulate certified then you do not need them for immigration/visa. If they were simply notarized (or you used the original of your degree instead of a certified copy then you may need new ones).

Your employer may be asking for it for the MOE requirements. If so, you do NOT need a new set. A copy of the ones used for your E2 will suffice.
