| In the Korean soup world I would have to rate soojaebi as being far superior, both the chicken variety, and especially the lotus variety. It's hearty and has a taste that stands out from the spicy/soybeaney soups. |

Ooh, I've never tried the lotus one. What's it called? |

| Wouldn't sujaebbi be classed as a noodle dish though? I like it, the texture is fantastic, but can we call it a soup dish over a noodle dish? |

Would you class chicken noodle soup as a soup or not? |

A soup, because it is fundamentally a soup and the noodles are small and a secondary ingredient / feature of the dish, same as oxtail soup wouldn't be considered a 'meat dish.'
But with sujaebbi the noodls are the main feature of the dish, thus I would define it as a noodle dish. I just asked 2 Korea co-workers and they agreed it's a noodle dish. I guess it would be called 'Sujjaebbi guk / tang ' if it was considered a soup.
So yes my definition is that if the noodle is the primary feature - then noodle dish it is. |

Fair enough. I'd class it as a soup, but it's all semantics. |

| I don't know why, but nothing says Korea more to me than that lukewarm cream soup you get at those three-course tonkatsu restaurants. Its not a high ranking soup, but I think it deserves recognition. With Bach playing in the background, sip the soup slowly as you watch your server pour water from a long spouted carafe....ahhhh elegance! |
Sounds like a great scene for a K drama... falling in love over the creamy soup crap. |

When done well...agreed!
You would have to consider gimchi chi gea when well done as a good soup too. |
