When you get your Notice of Appointment you'll at least learn which POE/MOE you are placed. However you won't know your exact school and location within the province / city until after orientation. |

Just got back from Incheon Immigration and I was surprised as the lady actually gave me a copy of my FBI check and apostille sheet. Took literally 5 minutes. If anyone is applying from Korea, and you are waiting on your FBI check from back home, try this option (assuming you already have an FBI check on file)
Now just waiting on apostilled degree from back home, and I have to get a Korean background check tomorrow. Then I can send off my docs |
If immigration already has one on file, why do you need another one? The FBI check is for immigration. |
I was told by EPIK they need a complete new set of documents. Actually there is a rule that says if you don't leave the country for more than 90 days, you won't need to get a new one, but it doesn't matter to EPIK.
My interviewer told me the copy is just so can send my docs to EPIK quicker and better my chances of getting my first choice. And I think this applies to all people applying in Korea per my recruiter.
I still sent off for a new FBI check because I will still need it for my visa next year. |

Just a quick EPIK update from Nov 8th:
Applications received: 1263.
Interviews passed: 479
Positions: Approximately 870.
Still no information on the number of documents recieved.
So they need about 400 more candidates to pass their interviews.
I assume they pass more than they need so they can cover themselves (candidates not getting documents etc.)
Anyway. Still positions available for those who hurry.
Good luck! |
:/
Seems like this time around they have given out less interviews. |

Thanks for the info, it all makes more sense to me now. I guess its just a matter of waiting now. Hopefully one MOE out there will want me and hopefully it will be one of the MOE that I want too. |

I just recieved an e-mail from my recruiter this morning stating that,
"We have just been notified by EPIK that they have received sufficient applicants for Spring 2012 and that they will not be scheduling any further interviews for the time being."
How can that be? Has anyone else heard anything about this?

That's crap! I'm pretty sure Epik are still receiving applications and interviewing if you apply directly to them. It says nothing on their website about this plus they couldn't have received over 800 sets of documents already. |

That's funny. My recruiter told me that I couldn't use my current FBI CBC to hold my place because it expires in January.
And is this official now? Immigration is going to ask for a new check every year? Even if we don't leave the country?
If that's the case and my CBC that I'm waiting for gets to me in time, then I think I'll just be doing one year in Korea.
This is %*$# nonsense. Even the JET Program wasn't this much trouble to get into. |

My recruiter estimates that around 2500 have submitted applications, so this may be true.
Well, I just found out I failed my interview. FYI, this was my second interview because I was accepted yet put on the waiting list for the fall intake.
I am honestly devastated and I feel horrible. I was way too nervous... It's funny, because you'd think I'd be calmer the second time around.
Have there been any successful appeal cases? I can't believe how ruthless EPIK can be.
You guys obviously know exactly how much work goes into preparing for this... So I don't need to explain, right?
7 months of hell.
Sigh. |

| I was told by two different recruiters (Footprints & ESL Starter) on Monday that EPIK was no longer taking applications because they cannot guarantee that everyone who submits them from here on out will get an interview. I had been working on my lesson plan for so so long, and I finally sent it to my recruiter on Monday, only to be told that I literally missed it by that one day. Really upsetting. He also said that the EPIK coordinator said that applications MIGHT re-open. Both of the recruiters said that they were "shocked" that EPIK stopped accepting applications so early. |

Got mine about three weeks after I sent in all my materials. |
