Stay cool and wait for the thing to come in........after all, you'll be playing this mother for months! A few days more won't hurt. |

Playing it now.....so far only minor style differences from Oblivion. Although the new way it shows the death of those you fight is pretty cool! |

S'good. Pity they've stripped back the stats for this one though, I'm going to miss bouncing around the landscape in 20 foot leaps with a maxed out Acrobatics skill on a Khajiit. |

I'm really enjoying it. A gorgeous game. Already addicted.
But it looks like Skyrim is forcing the user to use magic more....whereas Oblivion could be played without much use of magic at all......I'm having to wrap my head around all this spell stuff. |

My 2 cents so far:
Pros:
Great new magic system
Graphics look nice on the PC and load times are super fast
Great play-ability out of the box
Great art design
Good voice acting
Well thought out quests
Cons:
PC control scheme is TERRIBLE
Perk system is also terrible (while I like the idea, they totally erased the benefits of skill level, for example, if I have 100 archery skill, but no perks in archery, i am exactly the same as if I had 1 archery skill)
As always, I hate their lockpicking minigame
bland character design
As you can see, my biggest problem so far is the perk system. Actually so much so that it is turning me off the game. In all other Elder Scrolls games if I really put the time into character development, I could be best at every skill in the game with benefits from each. That is impossible to do with Skyrim. At most, you can get 60-70 perks during gameplay and there are almost triple that in available skills.
Also, it was a huge oversight on their part to put skills in the game that have zero impact on gameplay without buying perks. If I have 100 in a skill, I should be better at that skill than someone who has 10. |

I got it last night and put ten or so hours in and am enjoying it much more than I did Oblivion. I think the quests are better though out, the world more interesting and the combat has been tweaked to be a bit more exciting. I am with the previous poster though, the lock picking mini game sucks donkeys. |

Awesome game. Beautiful to play, and combat is exciting and fluid, particularly fighting dragons. The "list" inventory style, the crafting, and the perk system feel very similar to fallout 3/new vegas.
Overall, more streamlined. No attribute scores, just health/magic/stamina. Fewer skills (no athletics, med armour). No equipment wear and tear. The quirky elder scrolls level up system is less fiddly, and seems to work well. The controls have been optimised for console controllers. Although its still a bit buggy, its not bad once you get used to it. You don't have to look at the keyboard much.
The lockpicking minigame is the same as fallout, except the lock rotation WRT the pick is slightly different and a bit visually confusing. I think pick wear carries over to the next lock, so you will break picks, unlike in fallout. It doesn't bother me. I think that lockpicking minigame is not too bad. Hard to do one well. Unlike fallout, there is no minimum skill level, so you can attempt them all.
Not sure if you are correct about the perks for all the skills. For some skills, at least, skill level does make a difference. Alchemy affects potion strength; sneak, the chance of getting discovered; smithing, the magnitiude of post production improvement. Come to think of it, though, magic, archery and melee rely on your skill with a mouse more than anything. Unless skill level factors into damage, you could be right. |

The problem is that it doesnt function into damage. But mods have fixed that for magic already. |
