Have you or someone you know worked as an English teacher at the Lifelong Education Center on Pukyoung University campus?
Did you have a good experience working here? Its a not-for-profit education center, so I am curious how the job experience was.
Any info would be much appreciated! |

There is a woman in a supervisory position there who is known throughout Busan as "Dragon Lady". She is not a nice person and has the worst reputation of anyone I have ever known in the country. It really is astonishing that one human being has managed to attract as much hatred as she has. All of it most definitely deserved. She is an embarrassment to Korean culture, and Koreans everywhere should be ashamed to have such a person representing them at a national university. It will not be difficult for you to find out more information about this person.
In all fairness, though, there are folks who stay at Pukyong for years and years and live happily there. If I were you I would go find Ol' 55 and Vinyl Underground, two of the more popular foreigner bars in the neighborhood and try to find some folks there who can give you the low-down. There is a vibrant foreigner community in Kyungsung-dae and it is very easy to make friends. |

The Dragon lady? She is just the errand boy, sent by grocery clerks, to collect a bill. Unfortunately, that bill consists of your well being, your peace of mind, and unfortunately, maybe even your bank account.
Dragon lady's out there operating without any decent restraint, totally beyond the pale of any acceptable human conduct.
You know, I've pulled a few special Ed Ops at that school. About six months ago, I took a teacher who was going past the bridge at Do Lung. He was regular English MA, too. I heard he shot himself in the head after a month working for her.
I told him, "Never get out of the boat." Absolutely danged right. Unless you're goin' all the way.
Good luck |

I think different people take turns running the center. There is nothing mystical about her. She is just a very unkind person that has made life difficult for many people over the years in an arrogant way. The only thing mystical about her is that she has managed to gain such a terrible reputation. Yes, if you will be working directly for her it should be factored in to your decision but don't let her run your life. It is quite possible you will not have any contact with her. |
