Obviously you didnt learn from the 1st DUI. Don't you hate when things come back to haunt you? If I were the employer, I sure wouldnt hire you! But thats just me. Would i want someone irresponsible be around kids?

Having a DUI or any crime on your CBC is not going to bar someone from the job. It WILL bar people from the visa.

Since you've got your F visa, it shouldn't be an issue. As Jrwhite says, it could make things harder, but you CAN work anywhere as long as they hire you. DUI's would not be a blanket denial.

Actually, under the new MOE rules (dating from last summer), it may be a denial of registration as a teacher at the POE (meaning that the hagwan/school can't legally employ you).

What did the new MOE rules change? Are F4 visa holders required to submit a CBC now? I go hired in September and only had to submit a copy of my diploma.

Changes were announced last July and published in several places (including the news papers). You can find it on naver.

Implementation is due to take effect at the end of this academic term (end of Feb. 2012).

SOME POEs / City OEs are starting NOW. Others are waiting.

My Korean girlfriend called immigration about 3 months ago to ask which violations, if any, would prevent the issuance of an E-2 visa.

They told her that there are no rules for immigration to follow, and that it is completely up to the person who reviews your visa materials.

I have not seen any official policy online, and will believe what my girlfriend was told until I see evidence to the contrary.

However, I wouldn't be surprised if the public school system has their own standards, apart from non-public organizations. Similar to the US.

The best option for you is to get into contact with private or public schools directly. However, if you possess a good amount of Korean, you can look into corporate/company positions. You can look on the Korean job board (Not Dave's ESL Cafe, WorknPlay, etc) and you'll find jobs that can possibly suit you. Again, most of these jobs require you to be bilingual.

I feel like I'm hijacking this thread, so my apologies to the OP!
Aren't many gyopos looking into teaching jobs because of the housing and other benefits they provide?

You my friend need to get off your high horse and be less judgemental. People make mistakes. Having a DUI a decade ago has no influence what so ever in how the OP will do teaching kids. OP, I wish you the best of luck and please ignore comments like these. Cool

We don't know how long we're talking about. His behavior from a long time ago doesn't reflect his behavior today. St Francis of Assissi was far from being a saint when he first started out living the high-spirited life of a typical wealthy Italian, and he realized that a better life was had in being a better human beind dedicating himself to the betterment of humankind and to God. I am not a religious person, but I can see that people can improve their lives, and what this person did looks bad because he was caught twice doing the same thing, and we don't know if it was over a period of years or if he was caught twice in the same year.

I wish him the best.....
