I work in a public school and gave my 30 day written notice about a week ago to pursue another teaching opportunity in Korea.

Now that the deed is done, I'm curious...What documentation does the school need to provide me with in order for me to accept another position here in Korea?

I'm on good terms with the school and the actuall act of submitting the letter to my co-t went a lot smoother than I expected...maybe even too smooth. They don't seem to be doing anything and it's basically business as usuall. In my school's defense, the last NET was here for 5 full contracts so no one currently on staff has any experience with NETs resigning.

Isn't there a process of some sort? Don't they need to be getting some paperwork put together?

Well, they should probably start looking for a new teacher. They should also notify your coordinator if you haven't done so already. What organization are you? EPIK/GEPIK/SMOE? They might also want to notify immigration after your last day to notify them you no longer work there.

As for what documents they need to provide YOU with. Well none. They don't NEED to give you anything. If they WANT give you a letter of release, which would allow you to transfer for your visa, they can. But they don't NEED to.

Your best bet is to write up your own LOR and get someone at your school who is authorized to sign it.

They don't NEED to do anything or give you anything.

If you are with GEPIK they probably won't look for another teacher (no funding).

They are not required to give you a LOR but you do need one if you want to transfer to a new job and not go through the whole visa process again from scratch.

Also big big thank you for providing the LOR format...I'll go ahead and type it up. Out of curiousity, what's the source for the document? Is it official? Has it been used before by others?

This is true, I remember when I applied for a nice job and got it, everyone at my school was happy, they filled in all the forms, gave me a good reference and did all they could do to send me on my way.... little did I know the board of education were going to do everything they could to fudge me....
