Hi All. My husband and I passed our interview at the beginning of October and mailed all documents to S. Korea at the end of October. Our recruiter notified us that they'd been forwarded to EPIK on Nov. 5. We're just curious how long it's going to take us to get a NOA from this point.

Has anyone else gotten an NOA yet? How long did it take after you'd submitted everything to EPIK?

even though they operate on a first come, first served basis; i think that they mail the actual notices out all at once. So you might have to wait a while. Don't remember the exact date though. And you might be notified before you receive the actual physical copy of the notice of appointment also.

I was told I'd get the details of my NOA early Jan, and receive the physical copy mid-Jan. I'm under the impression it's roughly the same for everyone... which is highly problematic for those of us who need to give five weeks notice to current employers.

They don't give you much time to give notice and book a flight do they. I thought it would be earlier than January, maybe December some time.

Well, that's too bad. Do you think there's any way they'll tell our recruiter "unofficially" which POE we've been given? We were hoping to be able to tell our family where we were going by Christmas. I mean, we'll live if we can't, we just thought it'd be fun to know and be able to show them on a map where we're going, etc.

Also, Re: Airfair - I understand the stress there. I just looked up one way flights to Pusan and they're insanely expensive from the East Coast of the USA right now...well over the allowance EPIK provides.

Luckly at the moment the flights from the UK to Seoul and Buan are within the EPIK allowance even from regional airports.

I thought everyone had to fly to Seoul (Incheon) for orientation and not directly to where they'd be teaching

There are two orientations - one in Seoul for people in the Northern Provinces and one in Pusan for people in the Southern Provinces. All of our requests were for Southern Provinces, so I'm assuming we're going to the Busan orientation. My recruiter seems to be of the same opinion.

Don't pay for your air ticket until after you've got your visa. I read in this forum that even with NOA some PS programs have rescinded their job offers, leaving some applicants with none refundable air tickets.
