I am in Korea until Dec. 1st finishing up my contract on my E2 visa. I have another job lined up in Korea starting in March 2012. I need another criminal record check (CRC) for the E2 visa for the new job.

What is the fastest way I can get a Canadian CRC being in Korea? I will be traveling from Dec. 1st till early Feb, so I won't be in Canada to give the necessary fingerprints for the CRC.

Can I go to a police station in Korea and get the fingerprints done there? Or should I wait till I get back to Canada and try to get the CRC processed in a couple weeks by getting the electronic fingerprints done there?

Any info would be great!

Thanks.

IF you are going back to Canada at any point in the break then that is the BEST time (and fastest way) to get a CRC done. It will take between 1-7 days (depending on who the police service is) and another few days to mail it off to the K-consulate for certification.

Typically the whole thing can be done in less than 2 weeks if you are in Canada and will take up to 6 months from Korea. Get the prints done at the local gu-police station and mail if off to the RCMP (details on their website).

Thanks ttompatz!

If I get my prints done at a police station here and mail them to the RCMP, how long would it take for the RCMP to process the CRC?

If I have all my other documents ready, it may just be easiest to wait until February and do the prints then in 7 days.

To do it by mail, through the RCMP, from here in Korea will take a MINIMUM of 120 days and currently it is running closer to 6 months (you should get it back by May or June 2012).

Do it when you are home in Feb. and you will have it in Feb.
(don't forget to get it K-consulate certified while you are there.)

Actually it depends if your date of birth matches an offender. If it does, expect a 10 week wait for your CRC.

Electronic prints. They can confirm or reject and still get the CBC print out in a week (depending on the police service and station).

just to let people know, i talked to the consulate in busan and they WILL stamp the rcmp record check, but will not stamp a non rcmp check, like the VPD, so you don't have to send the crc to an embassy in canada.
