I just got an email saying that I need to resubmit paperwork for the visa I was granted in January of 2011. Apparently there was some change in October? Now, seriously, I have a hard time understanding how this is my problem. If they changed their policies and I'm already here and haven't left the country or violated any laws... what are they going to do?

I should probably mention that I transferred said visa in May and am at a new school now. But still, what are they going to do? What can they do? I went through all of these tests and submitted all of the paperwork. Actually did two physicals in the past year. So... what are they going to fire me with 6 months left on my new contract because one government office doesn't know how to call another government office and check to see that the paperwork was submitted properly?

How is it my responsibility to pay and wait and sweat to get all of this b.s. paperwork done again... ?

Who is "they?" - Immigration?

What documents, filed where, by when?

What government office needs to call what other government office? - Do you mean two Immi offices, or is one of them the Dept of Education?

How is it your responsibility? - Because the government says so, wrong as it may be, they make the rules, they have the power, and you are a pawn.

What can they do? - Well, that depends on the answer to "they," but it is the government, so your visa could be cancelled, or not renewed at a later date, you could be fined, deported, arrested, detained, questioned, fired on orders of whatever government office tells your boss that you're illegal and cannot be employed, in some countries, shot, but it's Korea and a bit more information about who, what and when would help.

More importantly:

Who sent the email?

In my experience, the government offices couldn't be bothered to email any of us with petty visa concerns.. they'd rather make a big stink and call our places of employment directly.

So I doubt you'd have to worry too much. Find out who sent the email and judge if they are a force to be reckoned with Very Happy

if it was the dept. of education in your region then you can submit photocopies that you already gave to immi.

Talk with the school then, your employer.

Yeah, my school is doing this too. Thankfully, they pay for the medical check. My understanding is you don't need to submit it if you're not re-signing for another year in the next couple months.
