For those of you with a 3GS and are thinking whether or not to upgrade, I'll give you my experience.
First off, the 4S is fast. There is zero interface lag, and the load times on most apps are 1-2 seconds most. Response time for input is instantaneous. No more tapping a letter and waiting half a second-1 second for it to display.
My internet browsing speed is much faster too. Using the phone has been a breath of fresh air. The GPS locks on to my position much faster than the 3GS.
The phone feels more fragile than the 3GS though. The square design makes it a bit more awkward to hold too.
The retina display is stunning. The camera is very fast and the pictures are great. My Canon point and shoot camera is going to be collecting dust from now on.
Siri is really nice to use. At first I looked at it as a gimmick, but then I started using Siri to give myself reminders and make appointments in my calendar. It is so convenient to simply say "Dinner at 6pm on thursday".
Upgrading the phone was pretty pain free. i backed up my 3GS, pluggin in the 4S and restored it from the backup. All my contacts, apps, settings, and previous text messages all loaded on there fine.
One thing that didn't transfer on its own was my music. I was annoyed that I had to go through my iTunes library and copy over all the music again.
I'm pretty satisfied with it. Other than the music not loading automatically, everything works great. |

sounds like what most review sites are saying.
was a shame no lte but apples reasoning was current lte chips are major battery drain so id expect the next gen iphone 5 to include the newer low power chips coming out next year.
i orignally got a galaxy s partly because i thought the dragging and dropping of avi/divx files would make commutes far more enjoyable but my work schedule means that i drive everywhere so obviously couldnt make use of this anyway.
its also good to hear siri will accept english here.
how are you finding real world battery life? i was constantly charging my galaxy s (it couldnt make it through more than 5-6 hours) and swapping batteries as soon as i got home.
since owning an ipad ive also get why people like the experience from higher quality apps to a slicker cohesive interface experience. maybe ice cream sandwich will give android users a nicer experience. ive actually ordered one of these bad boys myself so im hoping it lives up to its hype!
i think im gonna miss those widgets tho |

The battery life is better than my 3GS, but not by much. I don't have the battery issues that people are complaining about on the internet. |

1. What happens if you want to upgrade to the iPhone 5 next year?
Does your contract allow you to upgrade?
2. Does it come unlocked?
3. Can you easily create a personal hotspot? Or does the other device have to connect via Bluetooth? |

This is a korean forum. Why didn't the OP talk about how he got a Western Iphone with Siri to Korea and the process to calibrate it to the Korean networks?
Did you take it to KT? Was there a fee ?
Don't tell me this is just an Iphone 4S review posted in a Korean Job forum in the technology thread. |

What the hell are you rambling about?
I got the phone directly from KT. Siri works, out of the box, when you select English.
Do you really work at a phone store? Please tell me where it is so I can tell everyone I know NOT to go there because they hire idiots who have no idea what they are talking about.

Your review was helpful, but as usual everything that I read online was wrong and stated that Siri would not be available in Korea, Hong Kong, China or Japan.
Thanks for clarifying that you bought the 4S in Korea and Siri works when you select English language.
No I don't work at KT.
Come on, didn't anyone else read that Siri would not be available in Korea? |

As far as I can make out, Siri kind of works on two levels. Doing tasks that require localization and those that don't.
Also, there are different levels of localization. For example, Smartphone apps seem to be able to give you the weather forecast, in English, wherever you are in the world. No problem. So I assume that they tap into some kind of world weather service.
But ask Siri, in English, while located somewhere in Korea, where the nearest pork rib restaurant is and you won't get an answer. Because Korea has not been localized yet for Siri. AFAIK, only in the USA can these local knowledge style of questions be asked where the phone places you by GPS then uses a database to give you local info.
It will eventually, but even then, you won't be able to ask those kinds of local knowledge questions to Siri in English. Because the database for Korea will use Korean language key-words.
So, you'd better get your Korean pronunciation down pat if you want to use Siri here for localized info. It's voice-recognition, remember. |

What Eamo said is correct. I can use Siri to do most things except finding things close to me.
On a side note, the back of my iPhone, everything is written in Korean. If you take the phone to the US, and take it to a US Apple Store, they can clearly tell the phone was bought in Korea. |

I got a 2 year contract, plus the trade in credit for my 3GS. I don't recall the amount, but my monthly bill will be around ~75,000 a month.
Its been a few days so far and nothing new to report. Although, having used the 3GS for so long, I haven't used the front camera. i'm just so used to not having one so I forget I can take pictures that way.
I've been shopping around for cases and found out that not all Iphone 4 cases will work with the 4S. They will fit, but the case might obstruct the flash on the camera giving pictures a white hue. There is more information about that on the internet.
I can't stress how awesome it is to be able to use the phone and not have it lag! The most notorious app was the Seoul Bus App on the 3GS. |

75,000 for a 3G phone? Is that unlimited data?
Sounds kind of expensive considering 4G is being rolled out now and is / will be widely available in the Seoul area. Is your plan with SK?
The iphone is a good phone, but the hardware is BEHIND THE CURVE (the 4s would feel right at home in 2009 ) and the fact that you must use iTunes makes it a non-starter for me. |

1. 45,000won for the service (including unlimited Data) + 30,000w for the Phone payment (I have the 64GB model).
2.

The only phone that is faster than the 4S in the CPU bench is the new Motorola RAZR. GPU wise, no non-Apple product even comes close.
3. Go spread your propaganda elsewhere. |
