I want to go skiing with a friend at the ski resort in yongpyong. Was wondering what would be the most convenient way to go about it in terms of getting picked up from the airport/another part of seoul and having an english speaking guide take us there. We want to learn skiing for 2 days during the peak season 24th and 25th January 2012.

First of all, try these links:

Second, you don't really need an English-speaking guide at Yongpyong Resort. Most of the staff there speak at least a little English. If you book now, you might be able to take a private ski lesson with an English-speaking instructor (it costs about 250,000 won per 2-hour lesson for up to 3 people, though).

Third, Yongpyong operates shuttle buses back and forth from Jamsil in eastern Seoul. So from the airport, you'll have to take an airport limosine bus to Jamsil, then transfer to Yongpyong's shuttle. You book your space on the Yongpyong shuttle 5 days before you want to go. Here's the link to (slightly outdated, but still useful) shuttle bus information:

Fourth, you'll be going during the week, which is the best time to go skiing in Korea because the resort won't be so crowded.

Have fun!
