I actually like 2NE1; we learned the lyrics to a couple of songs in my Korean class, and I thought their music wasn't as dreadfully repetitive as most K-Pop. That being said, doesn't "band" imply that there are instruments being played? I mean, I always thought of a "band" as having a drummer, guitarist, bass player, etc. 2NE1 are good, but they are not a band.

That's how Rain won "Most Important Man in The Universe. Ever." recently.

That is not true. Most Koreans really don't seem to care about Rain anymore (When I told most students about this, they were baffled). His voting base comes from China and SE Asia. I wouldn't be shocked if 2NE1 is similar.
