Religion is a private issue for polite people............people who don't know you knocking on your door or stopping you in the street to ask about your religious beliefs is actually pretty rude, IMO.
So, yeah. I think a stern answer is justified.
We're so used to proselytizing that we've come to kind of accept it and don't actually recognize anymore just how intrusive and impolite it is to ask strangers about their religious beliefs and then even presume to try and change them! |

Two women from the World Mission Church of God came to my apartment one time.
I looked up the word "evolutionist" on my electronic dictionary, showed it to them, and told them that that was what I was.
They gasped in horror. |

| Two women from The World Mission Church of God stopped me on the street the other day. They were trying to convince me that God is both female and male. I tried telling them that I was Catholic, which usually works, but that only encouraged them. Finally my boyfriend walked by the street and I ran after him. They cornered me in an apartment alcove for nearly 30 minutes. Sheesh. |

That's what I thought, but a Korean co-worker was say I should say that, but I disagreed. They're proselytizing to me and getting into my privacy by discussing religion with me, a stranger. I don't preach to nobody. However, the co-worker also said he sometimes doesn't bother talking to them and waves his hand or something using some gesture to show you're not interested at all or to say you're busy. We're not polite if someone does that to us. It's not only Koreans that ask inappropriate questions about religion and not respecting individuality. We see that in the US too often. |
