|
|
Okay long story short, I come up to Seoul for uni on Fridays and general merry-making on the weekends and until now I had a place to crash at, now I don't because the person I was living with decided to head back to Australia (plus family emergencies).
I've done a bit of research and from the roundabout prices i'm looking at 150-250,000 won/month will at most get me a 1.5-3 pyeong goshitel/goshiwon room. Not really fussed with that since I pretty much stayed in my tiny 2 pyeong room anyway.
Does anyone have suggestions and/or tips? I've got http://www.gosi1.net/subway/subwaysearch.php3 lined up to check but having some feedback on places people have been to to rule out the seedy/noisy/dirty/ places would be good. Looking for places generally near central Seoul/Yongsan/Itaewon/Gangnam/Chongsin uni (isu). Would also like to use the place to store some baggage, think they'd cut down on the rent somewhat considering I won't be there 4-5 days/week? hahaha |

Get a backpack, carry only what you need, stash it in a subway locker when you are partying and stay in a jimjillbang for 10,000 per night. |

for 250,000 a month you could just get love motels for the night.. wouldn't be able to keep anything there, but they're a lot nicer and bigger |

Thanks for the info everyone. I'll be checking places out on Friday I guess, will definitely also look into some of the cheaper love motels.
Crashing at a jimjilbang doable? All i'll be carrying is a small gym bag at the most with a few changes of clothes. |

It is doable, but it would cost you more in the long run than a goshiwon. |

He may not be too fussy, but he may want an hour or two of actual sleep. |

So they do monthly rates then? I'm thinking of coming in Jan as uni job hunting has been difficult whilst overseas. |

I lived in a love motel for about 1.5 weeks when I first got there and kept all my suitcases there, I think if he found a love motel that let you stay more than a night he could keep stuff there. The only problem is than you have to clean your room empty your own garbage can etc. |

The walls are pretty thin in those love motels and when the neighbors are noisy, you may find yourself longing for a quiet corner spot at the jimjillbang. |

Alright so I looked around a bit more and decided on just booking hostel rooms for 2 nights every weekend, comes to about $16/night. I'll be fine with that for the month until I get back from my trip, then goshiwon time I guess. |
