MIGHT be good????
hope youre kidding galaxy s models blow any iphone out of the water in almost every area
Well, I'm not a smartphone expert but most of the people around me have iPhones and love them. The thing I've heard about the Galaxy models is that they have a lot of kinks to work out and reboots are common. I wouldn't mind an iPhone but one big drawback is the non-replaceable battery.

I might wait for the S3 after all, though.
sheep following sheep haha. If your making your choice from what a few people say around you then good luck

here are the facts...the galaxy s is lighter, better camera with flash, way way better screen and bigger as well, drag and drop files which means no stupid itunes, replaceable battery, tethering your laptop to your phones internet, external memory card slot and the list goes on. I really have noclue why people love iphones so much. It baffles me haha
ive stopped counting all the iphones ive seen with cracked and shattered screens coz apple was so smart in using glass rather than gorilla glass on the galaxy

Why do people like iPhones over Galaxy S2s? Because Samsung still doesn't have enough marketing appeal to overcome some people's automatic assumption that it's a company that makes cheap little Asian phones.

So long as a product meets a basic threshold, people tend to care a lot about brand names. Sad but true.

Some people even boast that Apple's a better company because it DOESN'T cater to lower-end consumers like Samsung does with its wide range of products. Eww, poor people!

Being sad but true doesnt help any Apple argument that their iphone is better than the galaxy s. Fact still remains the galaxy s is superior in almost every catagory

And just coz Apple prices are high you arent getting equal quality. Overpriced and overrated

I'm not arguing with your basic point, which is that the Galaxy S2 is superior to the iPhone 4S in almost every meaningful way. The iPhone 4S may be a bit faster, but it's also a lot newer and more expensive. Plus, it has a lot of other drawbacks such as smaller screen, no spare battery, iTunes hassle, lack of customization options, etc.

But my point is that most consumers aren't looking for the absolute best. They want a basic threshold of performance, and then they are influenced by brand names because, well, people are superficial.

And Apple's higher prices do not mean higher quality, but they signal perhaps an even better message: I am rich enough to afford an iPhone. When it comes to buying products with higher prices, a lot of people aren't actually looking for quality, they're looking for status symbols. Why do people buy Grey Goose vodka, especially if they're just to make bad cocktails with it? Because of status.

I'm thinking that a big reason Apple doesn't allow a replaceable battery is to basically force users to buy a new phone every two years or so.

Just a worthless personal observation...

In the spring and summer, whenever I'd ride the subway, it seemed like iPhones were clearly the most popular smartphone. I'd see some Galaxy S and S2's here and there, and some Sky and old Anycall models.

But now, it seems like everybody has a Galaxy S2. Maybe it took a few months for that phone to saturate the market?

I just got the Galaxy S II and so far, so GREAT! I had to sign a 30-month contract but considering that I had my last phone for more than that, I think I can manage.

I tether off my HTC. One day our router was out, and our whole six-person office ran off my phone.

I found out an interesting tip about the newer smartphones. You can charge the battery when it's not low and not damage the longevity of the battery. Awesome!
