I searched around a bit and couldn't find a clear answer.

I want to transfer my visa at the end of this year, but my recruiter just informed me that I need a CRC to do it.

She seemed to think that I need to get one from a Korean police station.

I'm happy with this, and if so does anyone know a police station where I can get it done painlessly?

If she's wrong and I need to get one from NZ (even though I haven't been there... and no I wouldn't be surprised) ... well I'm sure I can sort that out.

I just transferred my visa last week- there's no CBC requirement, though the Korean director of the school THOUGHT there was one.

However, I understand they're going to require two CBCs for new visas starting in January- so you would theoretically be in good shape until your current visa runs out (whenever that is).

Ultimately, it probably boils down to who you talk to at immigration, as always.

yep starting january it's required, but at the moment you can transfer without it. you will need to sign a document promising to obtain it the next time you update/renew though.

Ohhh... thanks for the information guys.

So... starting January do they want a CRC from my home country or one from Korea?

I think I should apply for it now anyway just in case I don't sign a new contract in time.
