I am noticing everyday a new student wearing some bandaging on their left or right hand. Now I even see people on the bus also wearing bandaged hands. Whats going on? Some students tell me its from volleyball, but they play that all year. Hmmm? Confused

There's been the national rock, paper, scissors championship for the last couple of weeks - lots of children have been practicing for that.

On Dokdo, rock beats everything. Even other rocks. Especially Japanese rocks.

To the OP, yeah, i"m noticing that a lot too actually. I do know volleyball is gaining in popularity here all of a sudden, like badminton did a few years back. National trends spread super quick and easy here. When half the population lives in the same city, things catch on like wildfire.

It could be one of those "fashionable injuries" too though. A while back, it was popular to have "disk problems" in your back. Kids and adults alike went on and on about their "disks." A few people get a real problem, a doctor sees two or three people with the same thing, then the news interviews him, everyone sees it on the news and all of a sudden it's a national plague of sprained wrists or whatever thing they latch onto next.

^^ Probably this.
They really love going to the doctor/nurse/clinic or pharmacy for almost any type of ailment. Drink some god damn water and take a nap!

I think the cold weather makes one's body weaker and more susceptible to injury. Or maybe it just feels that way. My co-teacher told me that November is considered the most dangerous month of the year in Korea (so people are extra careful). Something about parties and cold weather and something or other...
