| For those who have had many interviews in Korean unis. What are the general chances of landing a job upon getting an interview with a Seoul based university? Is it worth the time and money to fly over just for one interview? |

| Ever heard of Skype? It cost too much to fly round trip from America to Korea for them to say sorry no. And if they say yes you still have a lot of paperwork to process for the visa even before you get here. I would really suggest asking for a skype interview many schools do that. I did an interview for my school using skype. |

I think you already know the answer to that one my friend. They university should have already suggested using Skype or a telephone to you.
If they asked you to come to Korea for an interview I would be a little suspicious of their intelligence.
Take it from us that know - your interview by no means means that you have the job. You also have a bunch of paperwork that needs to be completed from your home country too. |

| The fact that they didn't ask for a skype interview, which btw is common sense, might suggest that they got many candidates that are living in Korea right now lined up for the position. After all, it's a uni in Seoul. Which means they don't really need you as they can just fill the position with like 10 other candidates, unless you are extremely qualified for the job and they really need you. |

I am friends with the poster 'texas chicken' and he went for an interview for a buiness English teaching position at yeonsei and there were almost 100 applicants.
Food for thought.
I second the skype option. |

That depends on the position being offered. For a guest lecturer or professor position they would require an in-person interview, then again they would pay for the flight too.
For a basic foreign intstructor position, which seems to be what the OP is talkign about, flying over on your own dime to attend an interview is not a smart play unless you are sure to get the position or are ready to deal with not getting it and are willing to look for work locally in Korea.
The visa is issue is also critically important and involves documents that need to be submitted.
So bascially, NO its not worth it OP. |
