Diddy,
The majority of EPIK teachers do not meet the minimum qualifications for the position you listed. Did you notice the folks refered to as "LTs?" Licensed Teachers -- not a lot of EPIK folks are licensed teachers. That is an actual thing -- it doesn't mean you have an online TESOL certificate.
Folks that DO meet the minimum qualifications listed can get MUCH better jobs than EPIK in Korea. Folks with the minimum qualifications listed can get jobs in Korea that are on par, or possibly exceed, the job you listed -- I know I have one, and though I DO love my job, I figure there are lots of folks out there with even better gigs.
...so most folks do it because they can't, and the folks that COULD don't do it because they already have the same or better here, according to some criteria of their own, which may include: cost of living, taxes, socializing possibilities, the availability of certain types of recreation and entertainment, time off, and even the basic salary, which may well be higher in Korea. |

Those salaries aren't really that good. Seems comparable to what a licensed teacher can get in Hong Kong, unless things have changed there. I'd much rather live in Hong Kong than the ME. I think most (Western) people would.
I would have gone to Hong Kong with their PS program instead of EPIK if I'd been a licensed teacher. |

What is this PS program? Do you have a link? Sounds interesting.
And from what I've read I think working in Korea sounds better to be frank. But Hong Kong could be interesting! |

| Every man has his price. If they actually offered a starting salary of $10K USD per month (5X the average starting salary here), I probably would put up with working in the UAE. Since they don't, I'll stay put, thank you very much. |

Hong Kong NET program. Google really isn't that hard to use, even for those who are technologically impaired.
