Hi there, I'm new to the forum. Thanks to everyone that contributes, it's a great resource.

I plan to come to Korea next autumn as a teacher, and wondered what my options were. I have a bachelor's degree in business and will have a master's degree in finance, from one of the best schools in the UK. I'd love to teach business/English to adults or at university level, but from my research it seems like this might not be possible without teaching experience (I'll be coming straight from graduate school). I'm happy to start at a hagwon, but obviously I'd like to secure the best job possible to begin with.

im new here too, but from what i have seen with job apps and read from other sources, you usually need teaching experience for a univ.

of course, if you are coming from a well known univ and are applying to universities not in the top tier, you may have a chance.

You probably need teaching experience. If I were you I'd apply for EPIK (it's not too late if you don't mind teaching in a rural area) or a hagwon (if you want to choose your location, but sacrifice vacation days).

Thanks for the replies everyone. I agree that I'll probably need at least 1 year's experience for a uni position. However, what about teaching business English in a private school? Is that possible for me?

If you work for a finance firm, then apply to make the switch to Korea that could improve your chances.
