Dear Zulethe,
My head hurts this morning and my dog ate my Pokemon card collection. I feel lost and afraid. What is my next step? |

I need more information about the seriousness of your pokemon loss.
Please watch this video and let me know if this relates to you in anyway; and if so how?
I know this video is a little violent but I can't underestimate the value of letting one's true feelings show.
This girl is awesome because she lets out her anger in a safe environment.

| My manager (부장님, actually) is an older woman who is backstabbing and vindictive. When I recently told her I wasn't resigning with the school because I got offered a better job, she looked really bewildered, angry, and repeated over and over "oh, this is terrible news...very terrible news..." while shaking her permed head. She then proceeded to message all the teachers in the school what I had just told her, presumably to save her ass, adding that I "had promised to re-sign just a few days ago but changed my mind," which is untrue. Nonetheless, her reaction when I told her I was leaving was awesome; when I think about it I still chuckle. Am I a bad person? |

Do you know what the most important thing for employees is? Money? yeah that's important. Benefits? Yes we all like them to.
But invariably the most important variable for employees is being appreciated at work. This is not my opinion; it's a fact.
I consider being appreciated a need, much in line Maslow's hierarchy of needs. Couple this with the fact that Korean society is not one known for showering its employees with praise is a recipe for midnight runs galore.
I bet my bottom dollar you felt under-appreciated at this job. Thus, ajduma shaking her "permed head" when you told her you were leaving gave you some satisfaction, which was a perfectly normal reaction.
ps I would love to see a picture/video of adjuma shaking her permed head. |
