|
|
Hea Everybody, I am in Korea and my job fell through. I don't have an ARC and my "was going to be employer" holds my E2 visa. I am told that they will release it as soon as I find an other contract, but I am getting conflicting information from recruiters.
I have had a good look at the posts on here and can't find anything that relates to my problem, I am wondering if anyone has found themselves in a similar position and if so what did they do?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! |

| Go to Worknplay and don't be picky. Apply for everything. Look desperate. You'll get more offers than you know what to do with; then just filter out the best ones. |

Get the letter of release NOW, can you trust your would-be employer if the job fell through even before it began?
Sorry this happened to you but you're not the first. |

Thanks for the advice, I ll get onto the Worknplay. I've been applying for jobs on this site as well as on craigslist Seoul, a friend told me that last one was good for the ASAP jobs. |

Thanks of the advice Yaya, after I did some research on it I sent an email requesting a letter of release, to be honest I don't think I can trust them. I just don't see what they would have to gain by hanging onto the visa. If I get a letter of release and a new job do you think I ll have to resubmit the documents, cause that could take weeks. Thanks for your help, I know you don't work for immigration!!! |

| You should still have your background check and diploma right? If you don't have your arc card, you should never have submitted them.. If they have already been submitted, and you get a letter of release, then you won't need new documents. You can just transfer the visa to your new employer. Immigration is very understanding of your situation. It happens all the time. Good luck to you! |

This reminds me of what happened to three people I know. All three were hired by either a hakwon or a company, and they went abroad to get their work visas. All three later found out that their employers changed their mind and decided against hiring them AFTER they went abroad to get their visas.
Two of the incidents happened in the 1990s and one in the early 2000, but gosh... |

| This almost happened to me as well. The employer changed his mind but went ahead and let me stay for 2 months before finding another job. You still have a contract with him regardless of whether he changed his mind or not. Just go to work and wait it out. I would be picky though. Don't just accept any offer. If it doesn't work out, at least you will get free rent and a round trip ticket out of it. |
