I voted for Bundaegi, I tried some and it was like "fear factor'....I'm not too keen on alot of the fish soups...boiled fish organs and gills are a but much.

I was watching a video of a TV show with the old lady, it was called "Maht TV" (sorry no hangul characters on the work computer). It's a good show, I like it because I like to cook Korean food. This particular show had these cats eating spicy ojingo, I mean so spicy the poor bastards could barely stand it, but they kept eating!! They were turning red, sweating, snot pouring out their noses, but THEY KEPT EATING...'Oh, mae wah!... Shocked
I was thinking: "Okay tough guy, you're Korean, eater of the spiciest food in the land..give it a rest". He'll be shooting flames from his tail pipe... Anyway, it's a good show...worth the .50 cents rental...

But Korean food is not the spiciest in the world. It's only in their own minds.

Mexican, Thai, Indian, and I think Indonesian food is spicier.

I HATE soondae. Tastes bloody awful.

Also not a big fan of Naengmyeon or any jiggae.

However I like Bondegi and Boshintang.

This is a good time to bring up something I've been wondering for a while. I have a National Geographic from 1969 that has a 20-page article on Korea. One part of the article states that in Pusan old people still sometimes eat red ants...sauteed lightly, they are considered a delicacy, accoring to the article. However I still haven't been able to confirm that. I know quite a few people in Pusan and nobody knows about that. Therefore I appeal to the collective wisdom of the people here to shed some light on this riddle.

jjajangmyeon is awesome!

I too like the Chinese dish: black sauced noodles.

As for naejangtang, I probably wouldn't have enjoyed it as much as I did and still do if I was told beforehand that it was intestine soup. It's actually quite tasty and the one dish that has convinced me that I'm ready to try some haggis someday, finally.

naengmyeon, the icy cold yet spicy noodle soup is INCREDIBLY tasty, IMO. I really enjoy spicy food but usually it's served hot, not cold with ice in it. I asked my director to order it for lunch this week and was told it's not yet on the menu of many standard restaurants, because it's more of a summer dish.

What I really don't like are those silk worm hot snacks served alongside roasted nuts at streetside vendors. The smell makes me want to hurl and the taste is once in a lifetime, and never again.

I didn't vote, but if pushed, I would've clicked bulgogi burgers, because to try to approximate a fast food beef burger is no great feat.

To each their own.

You might want to get pibim naengmyon (ø) in that case. It's the same kind of noodles with red pepper sauce, vegetables, and usually half a hard boiled egg. It's served ice cold. Very tasty.

My mom had it in her house and gave it to me the last time I visited. I've got it here in case you want to read it. I won't lend it to anyone but if you can drop by a coffee shop in Gangnam sometime I'll bring it around...

What's wrong with jjayangmyeon? Sure I'd take lo mein from back home over it but its got a lot of flavor and its cheap and filling. Maybe you've gotten bad batches, you've gotta find the places that make it with fresh handmade noodles. Naengmyeong on the hand I can't stand, noodles weren't ment to be (literally) ice cold Sad

I like "Saeng Sun Gass" (fish fried in a batter) but one time tried another "gass" ...not sure of the name now... ? (hye lee) or something like that, involved a kind of pork I think. To me, that was as bad as anything I have ever tasted in my life! Also do not like "ramyon"... just garbage IMO. Haven't tried some of the foods on the poll. Have no intention to. "Jjajangmyon" is not great, greasy and all, but not as bad as" lamyon."

The worst is Mungae (a raw seafood thing...brownish red, spiney). Tastes like the bottom of the sea...

Are those the things you always get as side dishes in raw fish restaurants? I still don't know what animal they are, sea slug or sea cucumber or something??

Anyone ever tried raw hong-eo (ray, I think)? Man, that stuff flares the old nostrils. Still, it's tasty.

It's the Korean version of hearty cheese!
