They would say that though.

Several parents have told me that their kids schools have gotten rid of FT's. Several of my elementary students say the same thing. And this is all in Gyeonngi- GEPIK territory.

So the rumour seems entirely likely.

It seems like some recruiters are posting GEPIK March 2012 listings for hundreds of jobs on here and other sites now. (KORVIA/WorkNPlay Consulting, etc...)

Also, I know a few city funded schools are hiring for March.

That's not to say that things won't change between now and then, but there is evidence to say that this rumor is not true.

Of course your kids' parents said this, it's true. Everyone knows that GEPIK had major cutbacks these last two intake sessions.

Cutting ALL elementary school teachers though seems a little much, and if they did, they still wouldnt have any say over what city halls would decide to do with their money (fund NETs).

I would rate this as "eventually true". Laughing

Exactly, the result of less teachers in GEPIK schools is a result of no replacements hired due to cut backs. We wouldn't see the effects of this just yet (if it is true, which I don't think it is. At least for the moment)

My recruiter just sent an email that there are approx. 350 positions available through GEPIK for Spring 2012 school year starting March 1st. - Interviews start Jan. 10th, according to her email.

I'm so glad I made the decision to go the hagwon route way back in 2007. I've completely avoided these cutbacks and the progressive deterioration of the public system, all while making far more money.

It's always better to be cautious though.

Don't believe anything they say. If they had been on the Titantic they would have been the ones running around telling everyone to go back to their cabins or forfeit their key deposit, while the ship was going down.
