How many F-visa people have bothered to get a criminal check yet?

Quote:

Applicants must:
a. be native English speakers with F-2, F-4 or F-5 visa

...

11) Notarized National Criminal Background Report copy (*MUST be ready by time of interview and notarized with Apostille stamp or by home countrys embassy in Korea)

So they want F-Visa people, but likely are going to find very few who have the check (if any) and/or who can get it in time for an interview.

Any F-visa who's worked for a public school would have/submitted one.

I'd say being a bilingual speaker (if they mean TRULY bilingual) would be the higher hurdle.

@TUM Its almost as though they are asking for Gyopos (bilingual requirement)

What the hell does this mean?

I'd assume they mean that the medium (language) of instruction needs to have been English? That said, it's definitely an odd phrasing.

It's not really odd at all and in fact quite a common phrase, depending on where you're from. It does just mean exactly that. A university where the lectures were in English, whether that was your native tongue or not.

Yeah they kind of do. I applied for turds and giggles to a couple of editing jobs that had a similar requirement and actually got interviews. My Korean is like high beginner so of course I don't meet the requirement. Other people being interviewed that I saw were gyopo or at least Korean.

I was actually snubbed at one job even though I clearly stated my ability level. I believe one of the interviewers asked the poor girl going through resumes and selecting people why I had been chosen. Of course, the snobby Western woman who completely ignored my relevant experience and treated me like a hakwon jockey seeking to escape didn't help. One of only two interviews I've bombed where I was pissed off at the people rather than disappointed in myself. Lots of snobs running around at these kinds of jobs...

Anyway, it usually means they want someone who can translate. But at a uni? Why would it matter?

They want you to submit an awful lot of crap for a unigwon that pays under 40,000 an hour.
