I am deciding between the two destinations for Lunar New Year.
I really do not want to spend four days in a city, but I always wanted to visit Hong Kong. What could I do there that would be fun, other than shopping?
Philippines are probably my first choice but I would like to go to an island that is not Boracay. What would be a good island for some quiet relaxation?
Thanks in advance. |

Hong Kong has lots to do to keep you busy for 4 days, even if you take the markets and shopping out of the picture.
As to a nice island (one of some 7107 islands - lol), I always have no problem recommending Bohol / Panglao / Alona Beach. There is enough there to keep you busy for 4 days (up to 4 years). You can fly there (ICN-MNL-TAG) or take a direct flight (ICN-CEB) to Cebu and catch a boat over. http://www.bohol.ph/

I disagree about Hong Kong. I've been there seven times and I think it's good for two nights. It gets old pretty fast after that.
As for the Phils, you might want to try Saud White Beach in Pagudpud. You can fly to Laoag from Manila and then take a bus for a couple of hours to the beach. Since it's nowhere near as crowded as Boracay, the beach attracts many nature lovers and film crews. |
