Mercer released their 2011 quality of life and safety survey. They survey the top 50 cities (usually cities of a million or so are included.) You can argue about the legitimacy of it. I posted only the native English speaking cities that are ranked #1 from each of the 7 native English speaking countries here. South Africa has no cities in the top 50 for safety or QOL. The US has no cities in the top 50 for safety.
