With your outdated religiously influenced opinions on society, it appears we are.

Ok well, I did not expect this much traffic on this. I thought in all honesty one or two people might respond and then it'd just drift away. I didn't feel the need to respond earlier, as only the first few replies were helpful (thanks you guys) and I was not interested in having a pro-choice/anti-choice debate.

To those on the anti-choice side I will say this: It's not murder. It's legal. Murder isn't legal. If you feel that strongly about it, I encourage you as I do all my anti-choice friends to go to law school, build a case, and fight for the change you want. Until then, you accomplish nothing by yelling at a screen and calling people murderers. Without any legal or legislative action.. "Man Yells at Cloud" comes to mind.

Now, for the update. Well, it appears we dodged a bullet. My Kgf, who I'm absolutely sure was not cheating on me, was about a week late for her period. She took an at-home test and it was positive. Fear, anxiety, regret were just a few of all the things we were feeling. And just to point out, we were being safe. I was using condoms for several weeks and when she went on birth control, I stopped. We were using protection and being responsible adults. She came over to my house and we had a long talk about it. She had a long cry. But we decided it was not time for either of us to go down this path. She didn't want to take the pills from the website earlier posters suggested, so she was set to go to a clinic in the following few days. That night, as we slept, she started to bleed a little. By that morning, it was full on. Nothing out of the ordinary, she just said it was like when she was having a heavy period. She went ahead to the hospital that day while I was at work. The Dr. there said she might have been pregnant, but the birth control hormones, which she had just been on for a few weeks, seemed to have forced it out. He said to wait a few days and test again. She went back to the hospital, it was negative. She went back the next day (different hospital), it was negative again. Since Friday morning, her period has been rocking along normally, just heavy.

So that's it. A major close call. The first Dr. said he couldn't say for sure if she was positive or not. Sometimes when a girl starts on the pill for the first time, it throws their whole system out of whack for a bit. Therefore he couldn't label it a miscarriage either. He used the term "delayed cycle caused by a hormonal imbalance." He also suggested in the future to not trust at-home tests for a solid answer either way. Testing blood is more accurate.

Thank you to those who offered sympathy and suggestions. As for the others, I stated at the beginning to spare the sermons. I knew very well how some people feel about this. But as for now, it's legal. And regardless of how you or anyone else feels about it, it's not your decision to make. It involves me, my gf, and we live with the choice one way or the other. I would never force myself into your life and raise bloody hell trying to make you get an abortion. All I ask in return is that you give me that same courtesy.

Slavery was once legal, as well as making Black people sit in the back of the bus. It's legal to swear in front of children and lie. Doesn't mean it's ok to do it.

When Blacks stood up for themselves and fought for equal rights, it became a reality. Unfortunately, some people can't raise their voice, so other have to for them.

The things you mentioned have NOTHING to do with abortion.

Trying to push your morals onto other people is also not illegal, but it is wrong.

An undeveloped embryo cannot raise its voice because it doesnt have a voice. Just like it doesnt have a developed brain and conscience.

If the guy wants to have an abortion let him, you going on some crusade for days on end is not going to do anything other than annoy people.

.

I think another poster covered it pretty well, but there have been many things that were legal in various societies that were pretty clearly not very moral.
On the other hand, props for the Simpson's reference.

So now you're agreeing with me that it's wrong to eat cows? I'm glad to see you've seen the light. Speak up for the voiceless cows!! Yeah!

BTW, if the birth control pill prevented a fertilized egg from attaching to the uterus, it was still murder, according to your book.

Did you guys even take a pregnancy test by the way?

I think abortion is only available for medical reasons in the way that prostitution is illegal.

Indeed it is but that is something that can have consequences too (illegal medical procedures come with no protection for the patient is complications occur for example).

Pretty sure all of the idiocy was from the pro abortion nonsense

Idiocy is equating abortion with the Holocaust. Why? Well lets say you're right and say they're the same. It is still foolish to make that analogy. Why? Beecause you're not going to convince anyone using that argument and you're just further antagonizing those of us on the fence.

lyonhead - Sounds like a relief! I'm glad you dodged that bullet, so to speak.

As for the pro-lifers... why don't we nip this problem in the bud, and stop the senseless murders caused by menstruation first? Those poor little babies don't even get a chance to meet a little spermy before they're flushed away.. terrible I say.

every one of us is responsible for innumerable ammounts of murders. It is our job to make sure that every possible person becomes a person and no one should have the choice to stop that because it is gods way.
