Speaking of other British actors in leading roles....Jax Teller (Sons of Anarchy) is actually British too (Newcastle, UK).
As if the lead for House (Hugh Laurie) but I think most knew that. |
Lots of British actors do well in American dramas. Aren't both the guys who play Mcnulty and Stringer Bell both British? Same for the guy who plays Adama's son in Battlestar? |
I thought casting a Brit to play an all-American war hero was an interesting choice - even more so considering the underlying themes of patriotism and the the threat to the American Way. |

Curb Your Enthusiasm(why hasn't this gotten more love on this thread? It's the best show I have ever seen. Ever.) And, Louie; a wonderfully written gem of a show.
Also, if you like reality tv shows that are a great mix of awful and delicious, try Strange Sex, as well as My Strange Addiction, which are both aired by TLC. |

I really like
- Restaurant Impossible
- Storage Wars
- American Restoration
- 1,000 Ways to Die
I just can't get in to sitcoms. I've tried watching How I Met Your Mother, Big Bang Theory, and a bunch of other shows. I just don't get them. |

| Pawn Stars was a goodie, like Antiques roadshow mixed with Orange County Choppers. |

For those that are into Sci-Fi series, the list is completely different.
Of recent stuff, I'd recommend Spielberg's 'Taken' miniseries (2002),
'BSG' 4 part series - about 60 episodes (Battle Star Galactica) remake (2005?), 'Outcasts' - miniseries. There's lots of other recent series too that I didn't watch that are meant to be good like 'Firefly', 'Caprica', many others.
There's good documentary series' that you can watch, even for free on youtube. 'The planets', 'China Flies into Space' .. so much stuff on Youtube alone. Hope this helps. There's also lots of documentary movies there. |

| I got sucked into Damages last month. The first season is great. I'm half-way through the 2nd season. It's decent but not quite up to par with the first. |

Yeah, which makes McNulty's really bad fake British accent in season two even more hilarious. |

I would add Shameless (US Version), Californication, Parks and Recreation, Flight of the Conchords, Extras, Modern Family, 30 Rock, and Sons of Anarchy.
The Big Bang Theory is funny too. I used to recommend How I Met Your Mother, but I can't stand the show anymore. Just want it to end already. |
