MANILA Police have arrested six South Koreans suspected of running a massive, high-tech dogfighting operation where matches in the Philippines were shown online to overseas bettors, according to police.

About 240 pitbulls were confiscated in the raid late Friday from a secluded compound where the dogs were kept and the matches held, the local police intelligence chief said on Saturday.

"They had an arena enclosed with mirrors. They had videocams, computers and they would show live fights of the pitbulls and it could be seen on their website in Korea," Chief Inspector Romeo Valero said.

He said the Koreans did not know how to speak English and it was not yet known how long they had been in the country. One Korean claimed they did not know dogfighting was illegal in the Philippines.

Oh you mean like this headline news?

Or maybe this one

Or even this one?

Perhaps I'm wrong on all the above and you are talking about this

There are plenty more where these come from. Korea regularly reports on this kind of behavior.

Yes even on crimes committed by Koreans against foreigners.

One news link could have been dismissed as an exception to the rule.

And thanks for asking but I feel just as fine as I did before.

You have a good day now.

Were all those stories also printed in Korean language newspapers?

Those are Korean newspapers...those are just the English versions.

And what would be the point of printing up all kinds of scandals about Korea for FOREIGN CONSUMPTION while only printing the 'good stuff' for Koreans?

Wouldn't it be the other way around if they were trying to burnish Korea's image?

Not to mention there are plenty of Koreans who can read English too. Some of who even use those very newspapers to teach their children English.

Koreans are quite aware stuff like this happens. They've seen those pictures of government lawmakers brawling. They know the public school education system is lacking. If you think that these reports or reports like them are never printed in the Korean language press you are sadly mistaken. "Dogani anyone?

Articles in English are only going to reach a very small section of the populous. It would be fairer to judge the Korean press if we knew for a fact that they were printing the exact same articles in Korean.

Only way we could know that if we could read said articles. How's your Korean?

Haha, not that good unfortunately but I guess there are a number of Korean speaking foreigners here. I often wonder just what the mainstream Korean language press are writing, rather than just a few shoddy English speaking journalists and commentators.

Speaking of "apologizing" maybe you could apologize for your highly inaccurate and prejudiced statement and truly apologize by looking at your biased assumptions and determining whether you made any mistakes instead of just lashing out in sour grapes mode.

He's got you to book there.

Korean newspapers aren't afraid to print such stories.
