BEIJINGWill Latta, the founder of clean-energy company LP Amina Inc., says he tried last year to interest U.S. power utilities in testing a new technology that reduces pollution from burning coal.

Rebuffed, he took his invention to the coal-belt city of Fengtai in eastern China

Waht they don't tell you is that in the US, your patent and intellectual property is protected.

In China, the government will just take what they want.

Yeah the new law states that patents that may cause monopoly can be seized and utilized by the state. it is up to the Chinese government to decide what is a monopoly. This is scaring off new investment in China. Some U.s. and European companies are pulling out. The new 40% tax rate on foreigners is also causing companies to think about''reshoring".

Read the article. The new laws that go into effect in January allow the government to seize any patent that they feel could lead to a monopoly. The Chinese government will make all decisions. The new tax on Foreigners about 37% and a new tax that if a company is not unionized they have to pay union fees decided upon by the Chinese government. Not a great place to do business at this time. There is a civil war going on in the party and government on what role foreign companies should play in China. the new leaders want to clean out the nasty foreign influences and preserve China's unique culture and of course keep all the money for themselves.

The article is all fine and good but what it is talking about is just not going to happen at this time.

From what I read it already is happening

Quote:
China leads the world in investment in clean-energy infrastructure, and few nations embrace potential breakthrough inventions with such zeal. That combination allows commercial development of innovations that otherwise might never make it out of labs in the West.

Quote:
China last year invested $49.8 billion in development of renewable-energy sources, more than one-third of total global investment in the sector, according to the United Nations. Such subsidies are helping bolster the global ambitions of China's clean-energy-gear manufacturers.
