| This thread is really backing up my decision to have no interest whatsoever in K-girls. The last thing I want is anything that could bind me here even 1 day past the time I accomplish my goal and complete my term. |
Modernist, forgot to say I talked with K-GIRLS, yes all of them, and they wish to sincerely thank you for not having any interest in them.
So..everyone wins it seems |

I think poster Modernist has a valid inclination here.
One could easily get taken up with a K girl, make commitments, then find the honeymoon period over and Korea 'fatigue' finally set in. The abrupt realization that you're in K indefinitely could make for some serious depression. |

It would seem that then the thing to do would be to find a Korean girl who doesn't mind the idea of re-locating. There are thousands living abroad and quite a few married to former or current posters of this site. |

Fair enough.
Though I don't think it so easy to look around like that as if K women are pieces of merchandise. Moreover you can't just fall in love with anyone.
Also, most people are not aware of the looming danger at the time of making the commitments. And even if they were, they may imagine they are the exception such is their newfound passion. |

No worries Shifty you are right.
Then again what you said in a follow up post about the "looming danger" could apply to any relationship anywhere because you never do know for sure when you start getting serious about someone. |

I'm saying the propensity for the 'looming danger' is enhanced by one spouse finding him/herself de facto being stuck longterm in Korea.
I thought that the essence of what poster Modernist is meaning as quoted above. Actually I'm unsure of what you are getting at. At first glance I think it irrelevant, but maybe I'm wrong. |

I fell in the stage where all I wanted to do was stay home and watch movies all the time. I no longer carried about going out drinking with the other NET's at night. So, I found a hobby that would get me out of the apartment.
Now I spend time with my wife at night during the week. Then on the weekends I leave on Saturday and Sunday around 10am and get back home around 7pm or 8pm. If the weather is bad and my wife wants to do something, we go and do it together. |

So you spend the daytime chunk of nearly every weekend on your own while your wife is on her own?
Interesting and if it works for you guys great. |

What lowpo wrote actually doesn't sound so bad to me, as long as both parties agree to the time apart.
I've often thought I'm not really marriage material because I know I would go INSANE having to be around someone all the time.
I cherish my alone time; I need time to decompress and just chill on my own once in a while.
No matter how much I love someone, I don't want to be around them ALL THE TIME.
It's interesting because I've met quite a few others who feel the same way since I've been here.(Korea)

Alone time is critical and we have that in our couple.
What Lowpo described was interesting and every couple is different. |

When the weather is bad and you have to stick around does your wife exclaim with glee or does she look strangely nonchalant?
I'm awondering if it was she who coined your account name, always saying "That's low...Po." |

As someone who has been in a professional funk for over a year now, I would advise:
1. Picking up a new activity, one that ideally would give you a goal to aim for. I started running this Spring and ran my first marathon at the end of October. My work might be utterly boring and mindless (for the most part), but at least I was improving another part of my life and was getting some sense of accomplishment outside the workplace.
2. Come up with a game plan to get out of your current work situation. What would you like to do? And how would you go about getting there? That's what I've just started to do since my funk has slowly returned since the marathon.... |
