Australia's a pretty good place to teach ESL if you get into TAFE. With the strong Aussie dollar salary 70- 120 million won (per year that is ), good holidays, really good PD opportunities.
That said, competition is becoming fierce for those jobs and if you're American obviously you're not wanted

The cost of living in Australia is really high though ... most overpriced homes in the world etc.
Well, my American wife is entitled to Australian residency and eventual dual citizenship, so I'm sure she could ESL. Might have to look into positions back home. Was thinking of taking 12 months to do a Grad.Dip Ed. so as to get my teaching cert, and could take ESL as a minor in that (presently have a Masters in TESOL, though no teaching Cert.). Though, I was thinking of doing that so I could work in Hong Kong or some place like that. |
